104th street is quickly becoming the new hip place in Edmonton, and the Blue Plate Diner is leading the way. The atmosphere is very homey and comfortable, and the food is definitely enjoyable. One of the best places to eat downtown!

I was in town on business and asked the concierge for a good vegan friendly option nearby. It's in the middle of a nice block downtown and has outdoor seating available.

Solid restaurant in Edmonton's downtown. "Funky", kitschy decor. Decent vegetarian food offerings (I think I tried the shepherd's pie, which was tasty). Big portions and reasonable prices. You can't really go wrong with Blue Plate's kitsch-cool decor and homey comfort food, set along 104 St's thriving dining and bar scene. Can be noisy inside, small outdoor front patio is awesome in summer, service is friendly but can be clumsy and slow. A fav among locals!

When a meat eater and a vegan get married it's not easy finding a restaurant that meets both our needs. The Blue Plate dinner has great choices for both. We have been to Blue Plate many times over the years, but sadly we will not go back. The food was burned, not tasty and over priced. The waitress was unfriendly and wore such strong perfume we couldn't enjoy our meal.

Super nice staff and delicious eats

I recently wandered into blue plate on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming staff-- All smiles and super accommodating. The blue plate diner was not at all what I expected. The food was microwaved..super soggy fries and the food just looked limp and unappetizing. Even the salads looked pre made hours before and were wilted. Staff made excuses and were unapologetic and rude. Will definitely avoid at all costs.

The food was excellent, we loved the penne with sausage and came back the next day for the salmon. Perfectly done and lovely spicing. The wine list is very good and the wines available by the glass were very well chosen. Love half price wine Mondays! Definitely worth trying and very conveniently located in downtown Edmonton.

Waitress was rude, no friendly smile at all, you don't feel welcome when siting down to look at the menu. Food was no better than eating at Humpty or Denny. I took my son (16) for lunch not too long ago. It's was fantastic! The building is part of the warehouse district and had tons of character. The good was delicious, very fresh and huge portions. I've only had lunch there but I'm dying to have supper there too! I highly recommend it.

This restaurant has an interesting ambience. It is cozy, homey and the food is consistent. Serving staff are professional and competent. I will return to this restaurant for these reasons, not because any one area is outstanding but rather overall you can't go wrong.

I was looking for a restaurant that both my husband and I could enjoy; we found it at the Blue Plate. Original modifications on home cooking. Food was decent and came out quickly. Hit and miss on quality depending on the menu item. The service was a little too casual and slow for my liking. Decor is odd and bathrooms were in need of serious repair.

Wow... Is all I can say about the food - delicious! Makes you feel all warm and cozy inside. Simple, delicious whole food. Service was a little slow, and lemonade refills are not free... But the lemonade might just be worth paying for... It's pretty good. Overall, fun place with great food.

We went to Blue Plate for my sister's birthday dinner. We brought my 2 year old nephew along, he is so squirmy and active but the waitress was understanding and so kind. Our food was amazing, the portion size was just right so that we didn't feel stuffed. We had a really great time!

I have been a fan of the Blue Plate Diner for years, but this trip was the exception. The food has changed and not for the better, the portions are smaller and the prices are higher, and after complaining about a desert nothing was done about it. Although the food was alright, it wasn't fantastic and certainly wasn't worth the price. The service was so-so and we felt rushed even though the restaurant was very empty. I love this diner!! Awesome breakfast/brunch selections. The eggs Benny is super delicious. And for after dinner the peanut butter pie is spectacular!! They have a really cool casual setting great for two or a group of friends.

Been there a couple times. Both times it was busy but the staff did a good job and the food was really good

Food was very greasy. I had at least 3 tablespoons of oil pooled at the bottom of my plate when I ordered the salmon. My husband's food was also very oily. The flavors were nothing special. Glassware was dirty. Service was ambivalent. I would not go back.

It was busy so service was a little bit slow. LMy husband sent his meatloaf back because in his words dryer than saw dust ( they did remove it from the bill). I had vegan loaf which was a little dry as well. Maybe they need more gravy? I loved the ice cream. i would go back but my husband said he never would.

Very trendy atmosphere and not your runathemill diner. Staff was friendly, washrooms were clean and the beer was cold. Parking was not a fun ordeal as it is centrally located.

Let's review the diners burgers!! What can I say YUMM!! My personal fav is the elk and bison, so flavorful! Great choice of toppings, personally I think most times I take one of each, which results in a burger that is a tad pricey, but never once have I left there thinking I have paid to much. Why?? Cause it is so fabulous, something's are worth the a bit extra!

The atmosphere is chilled, relaxed with a mixture of blue, orange and red wall colours with servings of great delicious food - have a margarita pizza in a sandwich style with yummy sweet potatoe fries and a nice cool Iced Tea drink.

Blue Plate Diner offers good service, but the food and the drink are wildly overpriced for what you get. They need to lower prices quite a bit if they want to encourage steady trade throughout the day.

This is my first time going to this place.

Decent but very overrated. I just don't really understand what all the fuss is about. It's in a great location and has a nice, relaxed vibe. The food is okay, but there is way better out there.

But I was disappointed. Tried a Saturday brunch , stuffed pancakes. No flavour, very dry, never got the cream and sugar I asked for from the waitress. Chintzy portion. Won't be going back.

Fabulous Brunch

Not only was the food and service great, there was live music to enjoy the meal. The decor enhanced the atmosphere making the total experience top notch.

High expectations, underwhelming experience

We heard so many great things that we had been very excited for our own visit. We were very underwhelmed at the fact that we could have made dinner for ourselves at home that met this meal. It was definite comfort food but there was no wow or amazing taste. Rather bland.

This is a quaint smallish restaurant with great food and excellent service. The tables and chairs are vintage as well as the overall atmosphere. This is an eating out experience for friends and family. I do not recommend occasions where one expects quiet and private dining. This place is always packed and loud.

Blue Plate Diner is my standby.
As a vegetarian, I'm grateful there are plenty of choices. The lentil and nut loaf is a hearty dish for supper. For lunch, the veggie burger is among the best in town.

Service is hit or miss. Have had great experiences, and other times my table has been completely neglected and made me want to walk out. Best time to go is for brunch, or after their lunch rush. Don't go if you're in a hurry.
