Had a wonderful time here. Food was excellent quality and service impecable. Try seafood crepe or steak frites. SO delicious. It's located in Main STreet Unionville, next to Old FireHall. I'd say it's the best restaurant in that area. About $15 - $20 per entree.
Went with my girlfriend for her birthday (Her choice).
I didn't want to go after the horrible steak I had last time.
This time: New day!
I had muscles. Ask for extra dunking bread. Yum!
I also had the swordfish. Excellent!
I saw someone at another table had steak. It looked like 1" not the 1/4" I got last time...

I think that the food and the ambiance at this restaurant are nice. My husband took me to lunch here over a year ago and I remember that the service was okay, but not fast, considering it was a weekday and it wasn't busy. So I brought two of my friends here for lunch and we waited one hour for... more
This is our favourite place to eat in Unionville . The food is always great and the service top notch. The owner greets everyone and makes a point of making sure you are happy. Try the smoke salmon, the owner suggested this to me and it was amazing ! Clearly the best restaurant in Unionville and Markham !!
Food is on a pricey side but it is delicious, very good portion.
Do trip the striploin and rack of lamb. They are cooked perfectly. Yummy!
Blacksmith's Bistro is one of our go-to restaurants on Main Street in Unionville.
The food is consistently good, lots of great choices and an excellent wine list.
It's a cozy and warm space as well and the staff are fantastic, warm and friendly.
Highly recommended!
Went for dinner on a Saturday night. The service was great. The food was fantastic. I've been here about 3 other times and they are consistently great. One of the best restaurants in Markham, and I've been to many.
Efficient and knowledgable staff, fine dining food and atmosphere, and small and large group accommodations.
A group of us had lunch at Blacksmith's Bistro on Unionville Main Street a week ago. This is one of the few restaurants on Unionville Main that I have not tried in the past. It is definitely on the must return list. We sat upstairs in a lovely sun filled room. Service was attentive and courteous. Between us, we had... more
I would not normally review again after only eighteen months, however in light of the recent poor reviews I thought that I should add my two bits worth. Every restaurant has its unfortunate bad day, and it appears that the last couple of reviewers experienced just that. This is not the norm. I have been there several times over the... more
We went for an office Christmas dinner to the Blacksmith's Bistro in historic Unionville, and we had high expectations. Needless to say, I wasn't the one who made the booking because I consult TripAdvisor before making any meal-related decisions!
Honestly, just stop reading this review and go somewhere else. There are many other restaurants in the vicinity that offer greater...

This is my second review of this restaurant. 9mo.'s ago I was here for my 1st date with my girlfriend and we had a great meal. I was looking forward to coming here again and originally planned to come here on our 1yr. anniversary.
The special of the day was a T-bone steak.
At nearly $40 I was looking forward...

We had a family dinner here in August and difficult to fault the setting, the interior decor or the food. Food, although expensively priced is top class. Where things fall apart is the service. No sooner had appetizer plates been removed, our mains were on the table and that was much the theme for the evening with wait staff constantly... more
I went to dinner here with 2 business associates and had a very good dinner.
Unionville is beautiful place to walk around ( in stark contrast to Markham ) and Blacksmith's is in the in heart of it. The restaurant is a converted 1800s blacksmiths and quite charming. We were warmly greeted at the door and promptly seated. The menu...

Located on Historic Main Street in Unionville the Blacksmith Bistro was the old blacksmith location back in the late 1800's hense the name. I have been a patron for many years and It continues to have a lot of atmosphere 2 great patios and a small bar that serves up great martinis. The food is prepared in an open kitchen... more
I had the opportunity to have dinner at blacksmith bistro and I can tell you it was excellent. we ordered steak and salmon and both were perfectly cooked. the atmosphere is excellent. highly recommended
I'm not sure what happened in the other reviews. We were greated nicely at the front door. We had a reservation and were shown to our seats almost right away. They took us upstairs and sat us at a table where we could see downstairs. There were no other tables to deal with so it was perfect for a 1st... more
Calamari Starter with a Smoked Salmon Wrap for lunch was the perfect antidote to a miserable Winter's day. Attentive / Helpful Service added to the enjoyment. Would return for dinner as the Blacksmith has all the attributes needed for a 'Special Occasion Dinner'. Great Food, Unique Upstairs Surroundings, Ambiance.
We went with with friends for dinner and wanted to sit out on a patio - chose the Blacksmith and this was our first visit. While we were immediately seated, the dinner menu arrived after we were seated and had to ask for water and a wine menu. The patio was full and it appears as if though there was... more
I gave this only two stars last April, and would not typically review the same restaurant again so soon. But this time it really did deserve a mention. Six of us had dinner and it was excellent. As appetizers the romaine salads and the mussels were truly first class. For our entrees we had the Special swordfish and the pork... more
We've been going to Blacksmith's for years.
It became more interesting when the ownership changed.
Happily they still serve our favourite wine (Pirramimma).
The staff continue to be helpful and attentive.
The new owner has successfully made innovative changes (and continues to do so) to the menu.
The value is there. The service is DEFINITELY there, as is the quality....

We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the last couple of years..... that was before we had kids. Last year we tried to eat dinner here and were told the entire restaurant was reserved for the night (which was weird considering it was not busy at all). We accepted this and went to eat elsewhere.
A few weeks...

Enjoyed a great meal with a large party. We were a group of 12, and service was initially a little slow. Drinks came before the wine but once our servers got their bearings things ramped up. Food was excellent; the mussels had a nice kick with jalapeño and rack of lamb was cooked perfectly. New owner has done a good... more
My partner and I stopped for dinner on a rainy Monday night before attending a kid's Holiday concert. The person that greeted us was nice enough, took us upstairs to sit, the place was empty. He sat us at a table for 2, when I asked if we could sit at a table for 4 by the window I was... more
We went to Blacksmiths last weekend and were thouroughly let down with the service and greeting at the door. My family and i dine out frequently and we will not come back to blacksmiths bistro!! The mussells smelled and tasted off the calamari was cold and our server did not do much to remedy the situation. The lady at the... more
Four of us had dinner. The salads were OK . The entrees were really not that great. The steaks were thin, lacking in any flavourful juices and generally overcooked. Prices were too high for the mediocre meals that were served.
My wife and I went out for lunch to celerbrate her birthdy. Unfortunately we went to the Blacksmiths Bistro in Unionville.
We eat out a lot..
Travel to India, Egypt, Europe and of course North America.
This is the worst restaurant I have been into in years

Good Food, friendly staff, seafood and mediterranean food. Small front patio and back patio.
Great little spot with live jazz on Sunday evenings. Food is great and service good. Nice outdoor patio
What a wonderful meal! We stopped in for lunch and WOW! I don't remember cleaning my plate like that when chocolate wasn't involved. I had the Chicken Asparagus salad, my boyfriend had the steak sandwich. Absolutely incredible meals, both of them. The service was fast and friendly and the people-watching fantastic. Highly recommended if you're in the area!
Blacksmith's Bistro offers these services: restaurant, caterer.
