Definitely a hot and cold experience for us here. We came here twice- Once on the Friday night for a drink and an appy, and then on the Saturday night as a large group for a supper (that we pre-booked well in advance).
Friday night went pretty good, and had we not come back, I would have probably left 4 stars. Then came Saturday. From the moment our server walked up it was clear we were an...

My wife and I had heard of the Blackfish Pub from friends who live in the area. It did not disappoint.
My wife enjoyed the fish tacos. I enjoyed the ribs with mac'n'cheese.
Service is fast and very courteous.
Only drawback is we couldn't sit on the patio (our choice) because that is the smoking section.
Inside...this restaurant and bar is large. The patrons are obviously enjoying the food...

Dont waste your money here. 'Very mediocre food. We ordered Shrimp Club and was soo disappointed. On top of that horrible service.our waitress showed zero interest in serving us. There are much better places to eat in Gibson.
The food are good, non-alcohol drinks like ice tea are free to refill. But the stake is too small. They have 8 oz stake, but it feels like 6 oz. good chicken wings!
I have been at this pub when the place was buzzin' and had great service and good food. This particular Friday night was quiet, only around 8 tables occupied. When we came in we had to look for a clean table and after finding one we waited 15 minutes to be noticed. It seem it took 3 servers to ring... more
This pub has better food, hotter waitresses, and a better atmosphere than any pub on the coast. Unlike the lighthouse the bathrooms here have no cameras. Hey mom..im famous..no thank you. Keep doing what u r doing blackfish ..skirt up...shirts pulled down..I will be back for more ;)
Enjoyed a romantic breakfast on a weekend getaway with my hubby. Service was great, and the seeing was clean and enjoyable.
My wife and i moved to Gibsons in Dec 2013 and we've eaten here many times since moving. We really enjoy the food, the ambience and the service. Were haven't had a bad dish.
At the end of a very busy day, we could hardly wait to grab a seat on the inviting patio at the Blackfish Pub !
Lovely place, clearly liked by many people, it get pretty busy.
Very good menu (I had the grilled chicken, cranberry and brie on a baguette with sweet potato fries and chipotle dip). I overheard other...

This is a very nicely finished pub. Very clean. Food is what you'd expect. Service was very good, although a slight modification to our order was not executed properly by the kitchen which slowed things down quite a bit. But our waitress had a great attitude, so we were not put off.
Having been a chef for some 25 years now I was disappointed to find out that the burger I ordered was made with a cheap frozen patty.
Chefs all know that good quality patties can be ordered when not making your own homemade burgers, heck! even the Keg has a line of premium patties for sale.
My company ordered a...

Always enjoy our visits here. Staff is friendly and efficient. Came for a quick lunch before the ferry; a good lunch crowd. Shared a Stella and Italian Clubhouse; really good. Came to the table already split without asking. Brought the bill right away as they knew we were pressed for time; we had lots as the food came out very... more
I went to the Blackfish on a Sat. for lunch with friends. The restaurant was very busy but a good size, we were able to find seats no problem. The waitress was warm and friendly, and the food came within a reasonable amount of time. (note worthy given how busy it was!)
I had the fish and chips, which were...

This pub is THE WORST PUB I HAVE EVER BEEN TO and I have travelled the world, and worked as a server for 15 years. I am a local, and I have consistently been disappointed by the lack of entertainment, the snotty inexperienced servers, and the cost of the menu is mediocre & overpriced. The Servers are RUDE and snotty. I've heard the servers gossiping about customers and arguing with them. The... more
I am a local, and I have been to every pub and restaurant on the Coast as well as many others all over the world, even worked as a server for 15 years and I must say that The Blackfish Pub takes the prize for being a consistently negative and disappointing place to dine. The lack of entertainment, the snotty... more
Been here several times over the years always good. Place is clean and well kept! Terrific daily specials. Beer and burger for $12! Several places to seat: outside, separate room with to pool tables, room in the back, fireplace/library area, and the bar! Very clean bathrooms and really nice staff. Food comes hot and if you let them know you... more
I have NEVER eaten scallops until I came to the Blackfish! Such a great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean and delicious food!
Definitely will be back!
What a treat. Free birthday dinner and beverage of choice on one's actual birth day. I had to prove it with my driver's licence. Service is good, food is good but not great, however the daily specials are a treat. Cozy fireplace balances the sports TVs - which are only loud when there is a special game on.
Good, reliable, and a friendly place to go. Food is not that different from most pubs, but well done.
The atmosphere is great, the food is better than most pub fare, and the waitresses are down-to-earth, happy and hard-working!
Pub food, but well prepared. Nice serving staff. Good patio, though noisy as it is close to the road.
But the beer...
Boring, boring, boring. How about some microbrews folks? Get away from that multinational c@!p and serve some Townsite, R&B, Russell, Howe Sound, or Central City. It's not like there aren't good beers available in BC.
I visited the Blackfish recently for 2 special occasions. One was a friends birthday and one was after a large community hockey game. On both occasions the servers were friendly and accomodating. Food was good, and they worked well with large groups, keeping orders and drinks straight while we all moved around and mingled. My only complaint was that the... more
since they have changed management, the food has become just ok. The prices are to high for what you are getting
They have the best burger on the Sunshine Coast but they have the worst ribs. Nice place, nice service.
Once a month the Blackfish brings in some of the most talented blues artists the Lower Mainland have to offer. This Saturday it was the James Buddy Rogers Band. James had a commitment and had convinced Russell Earl Marsland (a great singer/ guitar slinger who wowed them at last year's Blues Fest, headlining the Community Hall) to take his place.... more
I was really excited to go to the Blackfish pub because I used to live in Gibsons and had not been back in a number of years. The service was great, but unfortunately the ribs and fries that I was served were very dry and quite disappointing. For a pub, it was unexpected to be served fries that looked like... more
My wife and I like to stop in here during one of our "date days" (rare occasion when we're both not working at the same time!) and the burgers and frings (combination of their hand cut fries and onion rings) along with a glass of cold draft never fails to please. Comfy seating around the gas fireplace with your spouse... more
The food is never dissapointing, the service professional, try it! Crowd is from 19 to eighty nine and all looking happy.
Pub food, good quantities and decent quality. Service has always been quick and cheerful in several visits that I've had to the Blackfish.
Just off the main road, this pub is a great place to stop for lunch. The food was good (great fries) and the service was prompt and friendly.
Fairly loud. Average food choice selection. Plenty of spirits and such. Not much of a view as it is located to the one and only highway on the sunshine coast. Patio view really, nothing special.
The blackfish pub is your normal everyday pub. Average pub fare, and overall no complaints.
Lots of space and sports bar as well as areas if you want to be alone. Great bar food and atmosphere
Seafood platter was dissapointing and way expensive. Cramp sitting area and no privacy. Most of the food that i ordered in the past visits not to my expectations. Was there because no where else to go in Gibsons.
I'm not local but had to be in Gibsons for 10 days and found this pub was showing the NFL games. Walked there on 2 weekends to catch my Pats in their December run.
At first I thought the price was a bit high for a veggie tray but when it came, I was glad I paid a little more but got very generous portion of fresh, clean, crisp veggies with a good mayo-free, house-made dip. Other time I had...

Busy, fun atmosphere with bar and tables, TV screens, music. Pretty young waitresses who work non-stop and are friendly, efficient and really on top of it service-wise! Nice building, too bad they couldn't move Gramma's in to it. The food is always terrible. They do have Guinness on tap though, particularly important this time of year.
Nice setting, outside seating, fireplace when it's chilly. Good food & service.
This place has a great atmosphere with wonderful food.
The specials were amazing. They were serving Penko encrusted chicken stuffed with either cream cheese and shrimp and Penko encrusted chicken with brie, cranberries and apple. Both were amazing and made on site, not brought in pre made.
The prices were very reasonable.
I had chicken souvlaki and it was terrible. You could totally tell it was frozen meat as it was super watery tasting and tasteless. Even the rice was soggy. It was not cheap, over $15 i think. Drinks are served in mason jars (wtf) and are quite weak. I give it 2 stars only because the ambiance is nice and has a decent pool/games room.
excellent! excellent service and food was great. watched the canucks crush the habs!
Excellent! We come to this pub often. The food is great with a large menu to choose from. The service is great too. Love the heated deck. My husband loves the big screen TVs especially during hockey season, and the specials that go along with it.
Blackfish is a lovely spot, variety of seating options, nice fireplace, outside deck. Has been pleasant in the past, but a recent visit was very disappointing. Sunday brunch - TVs blaring a hockey game, so loud we could barely hear each other speak even though we went into a room as far away from TVs as possible. Once the game... more
