it closed because it was not that great and very expensive.it has been replaced by a place called Bicyclette Ive only had coffee and a pastry there . Its in the French district of Edmonton close to some art galleries and the French University.
This restaurant is now closed and has been replaced by excellent new Café Bicyclette which has a menu of comfortable foods, excellent coffee and lower prices.
The food was great...and presentation was awesome. We found the service to be lacking though, especially when requesting drinks. We left feeling a bit ignored and the atmosphere of the whole restaurant was strange. Not warm and inviting but kind of cold.
The food presentation was delightful and beautiful. Smoked raisins in the waldorf salad exquisite. The duck breast with pistachios & the duck canneloni "c'est bon" but could have used a few more veggies with the dish though the salad and entree were filling enough. The canneloni portion was slightly on the salty side, but didn't ruin the dish entirely.
Service didn't enhance our experience...

Food was excellenthow the room, ambiance etc let the experience downneeds a make overalso locationwould be better served being closer to the other good restaurants in edmonton
A wonderful, modern classical French restaurant. The food is wonderfully prepared and presented, with distinct and selected flavours and textures in each item. By "modern", I mean that the sauces are much "lighter" than in classic cuisine. Because it is classically French, the portions are very small by Alberta standards - don't expect the 1.5 pound steaks or deserts that fill a soup bowl here.... more
When we went to use groupon told we had to order two mains to use it. Some entrees were $45... a little over our budget. So the waitress said she would only honour the amt of the groupon. Then automatically added $15 gratuity - then asked do I want my change. So I wasn't happy to have spent $ 40 - would have definately gone somewhere else./
Waitress was a little short at the end.
We had dinner last night for the first time at La Persaud after a friend gave us a gift certificate. Our experience left much to be desired.
For starters, the ambiance was one of the tackiest I have seen in a higher-end restaurant: multicoloured junior-high-dance-style lighting, terrible artwork, and, for music, cheesy French-versions of popular Christmas songs, played loudly. The...

Our meals were wonderfully flavourful and excellently presented. Other reviewing diners have commented on the small portions. We found the portions quite generous but very heavy on the protein with just a taste of vegetables. Perhaps offering a selection of al a carte vegetables would provide a more balanced meal. Service was attentive if not always appropriate; I blame the end of term exam... more
food was bland, not justified with the price, appetizer was only item that we enjoyed . overall , not at all recommendable .
What a surprise. The Bistro has a well appointed space that upon entering is very warm and welcoming. The food stands on its own. The dishes were simple, full of flavor and artfully plated. The shining star for me was the lemon curd parfait-the best dessert I have ever had, hands down. It is a place that I will return when I want to dine in an intimate environment.
Chef Ryan O'Flynn is a world class chef that we're extremely fortunate to have back in Edmonton. The tasting menu is a must for serious foodies and fine diners!! Without a doubt the best food in Edmonton, but unfortunately there's a disconnect between the food and the ambiance...the food is awesome but the decor is uninspired. The food more than makes up for it however, and I'll certainly... more
Interesting menu. Excellent food and service. A bit expensive for the amount of food on the plate. Would go again for a special occasion.
I was actually quite disappointed with Bistro La Persaud. For the prices we paid I would expect food of a significant better quality. The lobster was overdone, main courses were adequate and desserts lacked depth and variety. I would not return nor would I recommend to friends or other food lovers.
My husband loved his meal - he ordered the chicken and it was the moist consistency that he really loved.I'm a vegetarian and there was only one entree available - Pommes Anna. It was tasty but I expected morethan a crispy creamed potato, a couple wedges of beet, and two mushroom slices. The potato was fillingbut for $29 ...?....not a happy restaurant choice for me. Cut the potatoes in half and... more
We were at the restaurant about eight months ago and loved the experience. We found the menu was smAller this time. Prices were higher so we expected the dishes to be extraordinary. The portions were smaller and the food was barely warm when it was served. We had to request a wine menu and were not asked if we wanted a drink until the meal order was being taken - again we had to ask if we could... more
As usual an elegant, beautifully paced meal. The little extras such as a pate and a sweet treat with coffee that come gratis, make the Bistro a very special outing.
Food was okay, and presentation lovely. Beautiful room and very attentive service.
The food was absolutley amazing. Chef Ryan O'Flynn is incredible. The hostess could be friendlier and smile. It would certainly enhance the experience.
The restaurant is hard to find, from the outside it didn't look much of a restaurant. Our friend who lives close by the restaurant didn't even know where it was & got lost. The decor was too modern for a French restaurant.Since we had the 7 course sampler, we had a great time.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. My husband had the prime beef and very much enjoyed it. I had the chicken and it was good but not great. I did not like the texture of the chicken. It did not see really fresh. Otherwise everything else was excellent.
We enjoyed the tasting menu paired with wine. Can't think of enough wonderful things to say about it! Monique our server was wonderful!
My scallop and lobster tail appetizers weren't too bad, and they were just enough for dinner. My husband's dinner selection of pork loin was only average and for the price charged, he was still hungry. Dessert prices were high so we went to DQ for dessert!
On the plus side, the appetizers and entrees were excellent - well prepared and very tasty. The waiter and the chef were attentive to food allergies noted by one of the diners. The physical menu is a big improvement over the old ring binder arrangement, and the location and parking convenience make La Persaud a neighborhood gem for anyone living south of the river.
On the downside, prices have...

I had enjoyed Le Persaud at lunch and decided to make a return visit to treat my husband to a special birthday dinner. I was surprised that the restaurant was not full, but did thoroughly appreciate and enjoy the service and the food.We had appetizers, a main course and dessert and each course was a delight to the senses. The portions were appropriate and while there were some new tastes, the... more
We ate at La Persaud on a Tuesday night. There were only a few couples there between 6 & 7:30 PM. We will go back. The atmoshere is lovely - quiet French music in the background, white tablecloths with heavy cutlery and good wine glasses all with enough light to easily read the menu but turned down enough to give... more
A couple of us went for some dining pleasure ($45.00/plate) and were completely disappointed! I had the assiette of Alberta prime beef. I was asked how I would like it cooked. I said medium and it came back blue rare.. My dining companion had the pistachio praline dusted duck breast, which was also under cooked. The server came back, asked... more
My husband and I enjoyed a very nice Friday evening at Bistro La Persaud. I have been very intrigued by French food recently so have been seeking out opportunities to try different french restaurants. When I saw a Groupon for this Bistro worth $50 for only $25 I bought it.
We went tonight and had a very enjoyable night. We...

It has been a long time since I can remember enjoying a meal this much in Edmonton. Everything from the food to the service was superb. This is a small intimate dining room - very nice for special occasions. We shared the grilled lettuce salad (plenty for 2 - delicious and so different). My husband had the snapper and I... more
I love when people say great food and then give the restaurant a bad rating. Chefs cook food , they are not realtors. It is sad that this restaurant is located where it is ( at least parking is plentiful) but make no mistake the food is first rate and the service is outstanding. I am from Edmonton and globally... more
We had eaten here a while ago and really liked it. Went back recently with great expectations and were very disappointed. At our table of 4, two of us had the "game hen". Both found the dish to be incredibly salty, to the point of almost being inedible. One of us had the lamb, and liked it. The other had... more
Unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. The food was tasty but the atmosphere was horrible. It felt very institutional and probably the least romantic spot to dine as a couple on the planet. Service was also quite good. I think if they had a better location in a quaint spot they would be much more popular and successful.
Where to start? Finding the restaurant was a challenge. Marked only by a well hidden sandwich board, leading to a stairwell to the basement level. A small amount of external light does find its way into the restaurant due to a below street level patio outside the restaurant, but totally lacking in any decorative or aesthetic touches. The interior of... more
This is one of my new favourites. Attentive staff. Decent and not expensive wine by the glass, thoughtful food preparation and presentation. Nice selection of flavours. Just delightful.
We do not usually go to the higher priced restaurants, however we had a gift certicate and were very pleased with the food and service. The place is smaller than what it seems on the website. There is an interesting list of appetizers. I suggest one shared by two people. The entree portions were larger than expected for this type... more
If you are visiting Edmonton and don't mind a $11 taxi ride from downtown - this is worth the trip. The service was charming and food really really good. We say outside on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The by-the-glass wine list is short but good and the by the bottle list has some interesting wines. The one... more
Visited with a group of 10 and thus we were able to cover a good portion of the menu. The The Charcuterie Platter was tasty and included some interesting flavours but the BEST appetizer was the Steak Tartare (not a fan of the chips that came with though). The entrees were all beautifully cooked and served we sampled the lamb,... more
