Incredible meal and service. If available order: escargot, foie gras torchon, steak frites, steak tartare and strawberry shortcake
I made reservations in advance, and came on time. The place has high ceilings, and tables are far and wide apart. French music playing in the background is nice and doesn't interfere with the conversation, the whole place is instantly lovable. Taste of the food? It's just great. We ordered Escargot, Liver paste, Asparagus, Cod, Veal fillet, Duck Confit, all were great. For dessert the popular... plus
This was a treat for our group after long days of work on a visit to Montreal. The menu choices were rich, well prepared and nicely presented. The wine list is small but well chosen. Service was business-like, efficient when we had an unexpected extra person arrive. The decor is simple and seating could be more comfortable. But we could hear each other in normal conversation, no ambient... plus
The food was excellent, however we did not quite enjoy the service.
My mom was visiting me for my graduation so I took her on a two day trip to Montreal. I wanted to introduce my mom to some authentic French cuisine, so I picked this restaurant as it was highly recommended. The server was an elegant Francophone lady, however even though she was smiling I felt like she was wearing a mask the...

Ordered the cod fish, DH ordered the duck confit. Best salad I've ever had! Sweet and sour but not too much either side. The atmosphere is very nice if you are looking for a wine and dine place. Loosing 1 star because the lady didn't give us a menu or tell us anything about the menu on the wall. She spilt water on the table without even saying sorry. Basically she ignored us for the most part.
Awesome. Visited with a group of 6. Apps were escargot, smoked salmon, salad. Mains duck confit. Veal tartar and cod. Each person raved about the meal. Awesome! Service great. Wonderful woman. Had a great time and will be back
Amazing! I came to this restaurant after having dined at Joe Beef the night before and the food was so much better! The server (a lady) was very knowledgeable and passionate about the dishes on the menu, and was also well versed in the wines. I had a bite of everyone's dish that was ordered at the table... appetizers: foie gras, escargots, cream of mushroom soup and french onion soup; the... plus
The best meal I have ever had. I will remember this place until the day I die. Thank you Catherine and Phillipe.
First into the restaurant, we had the attention of the Duo of Ds. Mr. Chef was extremely friendly as he was preparing for the evening's service. Mrs. D at the front was fine.
Coming back from the washroom, I asked what the chef recommended, and he glowed with pride about everything on the menu. His comments were proud without being arrogant, and left me excited to try just about anything.

What a fantastic dinner we had at Duo D! A two-person operation (at least the night we were there), both the food and service were impressive. The creme brûlée is probably the best I've had, and the overall experience deserves 5 stars.
Duo.D is proof that keeping things simple works best. A very straightforward menu, with a broad selection of wines. Can definitely recommend the Saumon Fumé Maison, Confit de Canard, Steak Frites, and Creme Brulée. Looking forward to going back for the rest of the menu. As others have mentioned, great ambiance and service.
Recommended by friends..and now it's my turn to say...GO TO THIS restaurant!! The food is amazing, the service impeccable, the ambience...do you hear me sighing?? Truly remarkable evening...a do not miss while you are in Montreal! If I lived there, this would be my go to place to take visiting family and friends and a blissful night out withy husband.
We decided to have a late dinner and wanted traditional french and after reading the reviews on tripadvisor decided to check out Bistro Duo.D. We were lucky with the weather and got to enjoy our dinner on the lively patio. Service was quick and very attentive. The food was simple but delicious. Typical bistro menu. The fois gras was nice,... plus
To repeat, brilliant. We were there in April (while on an annual business trip) and found the entire evening a delight...and a marvelous change from the "on-the-beaten" path restaurants in town. The area is a bit sketchy, but nothing to worry about and is easily forgotten once in the warm and welcoming bistro. From the greeting at the door to... plus
My friends took me here for my birthday dinner. The food was pretty good and interesting. Worth a try. Must try to foe gras.
To get to this place we had to went through an ugly block or two, however the first impression when we entered the restaurant was great. The vibe was very similar to what we have experienced in Europe; I could not shake off the feeling of similarity with what I have seen in Spain. The service was great, despite a... plus
If there were 10 stars I would give them all to this restaurant. Food is awesome. Best steak frites ever in my life and there have been a few
Owners make their own smoked salmon it is perfectly smoked. Try it
Very intimate and if you can get a seat, well worth the evening stay. All tables seem to be pre-reserved. Bring good friends because you will stay for hours lingering over traditional style courses. Even though menu is a la carte, little courses appeared intermingled between our orders. Owner is very friendly. Smoked Salmon appetizer to die for. Duck was... plus
for a husband and wife team to almost double handed make this such a memorable experience. Classic French dishes on a small, exciting menu that really delivers. Great, friendly service, ambiance and location. Completely deserves its high ranking - a great family evening.
We arrived a little early due to the weather and discovered we were the only people there but there were no concerns about seating us. The owners are very friendly and we had a great time practicing our French with the host. We got a great little table by the window. Started with the onion soup and the smoked salmon.... plus
Get off at the station Lucien-L'Allier on the orange line. Head for the exit to the street with the same name. You may be disoriented at this point. You go south, down the hill. Bistro Duo.D has an excellent location and decor with very friendly service but we were disappointed mostly by the menu. The choice on the menu is quite limited and not quite exactly outstanding though certainly competitive with many other good eatings in Montreal.
The menu offers a selection of classic options and we were looking to explore new creative preparations but...

Spectacular because the food was superior but not pretentious, Bistro Duo D is run by a warm, friendly husband-and-wife team. In light of the quality of the food, it was very well priced-- an exceptional... plus
The best food we have ever had! When we arrived we were greeted by a very sweet hostess, she showed us to our table and took our order, very nice lady with a great sense of humor. Hands down the best food my husband and I ever ate. When we arrived we were greeted very nicely, the woman I don't remember her name is really sweet and with a great sense of humor. The apps were wonderful, the main course was extraordinary. I had the duck which was amazing and my husband the lamb which he loved. Desert was very good too. Overall great place to come for a nice romantic dinner... plus
We went to this restaurant three times this year: as a couple, then with family, and finally with colleagues (and +1s) for an office Christmas party.
Every single time, it was just perfect. The food is always so delicious and reffined. During those three visits, we've managed to try almost everything on their menu and all of it is just...

This was our second visit, one year apart, it was as devine as the first. We loved the smoked salmon, escargot, trout, duck confit, pain perdu and Rioja wine. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. We will come again when we return to Montreal.
One of the reliable favorites, simple unpretentious menu that is always satisfying. Nice place with nice people, can't expect any more for a good meal when you want to go somewhere you know will not let you down.
We had an amazing evening at Duo.D starting with a tasty amuse of salmon with some delicious toppings. Then moved on to a great french onion soup with a perfect mix of bread and melted cheese. The soup had strong onion flavor without the normal over-salted flavor you get state side. For the main course we both had Confit Canard... plus
We had found DuoD thru Trip Advisor when we came to the Montreal Jazz Festival in June. LOVED it! Felt like we were in Paris. So we returned primarily so we could eat there again. Apps were the onion soup and mesclun salad. We both had the Morue Poelee, with coco & curry sauce...in english - roasted codfish with curry... plus
This was a great intimate place to have dinner. The owners were wonderful and the service was great. The duck confit was very good and the wine was excellent. We would highly recommend it and go back next time in Montreal.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal at this neighbourhood style bistro. Service was friendly and gracious and the food was delicious. Enjoyed 3 courses and did not leave anything on our plates. Will definitely come back! Only 9 tables so reservations are a must.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend in Montreal with friends and were looking for a authentic French bistro away from the usual spots. My hubby had duck confit and he is still raving about it. My... plus
I had eaten here on a professional trip by myself last year, and wanted to share that greatr experience with my wife. We were not disappointed! One caveat - reservations are essential.

My wife is from Montreal and we came up from Toronto for a weekend of tourism, employ our rusty French and to enjoy Montreal's famous cuisine. Bistro Duo D is a superb small intimate restaurant. The proprietress was worried we ordered too much. Maybe but we did not want to miss the escargots or other traditional French fare. Escargots were perfection and true to the simple garlic and butter preparation with a dusting of baby chives. The asparagus salad cut the richness of a shared onion sop which was old not especially unique but solid.... plus
Small, intimate and delicious. This duo knows how to create an interesting menu. Feels like France all over again. Steak Tartar was not layered but mixed with a hint a cornichon. So tasty!!
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
A bit away from main tourist areas, we took a chance and arrived as the first customers of the evening and were taken but saw three other couples being turned away in the next hour. SO BE SURE TO BOOK. I feel stupid that we could have missed the best steak we ever had!

A place I recommend to my friends going to Montreal. Great food, friendly chef and wife run the business.
Lovely bistro that reminded me of our visit to France. Excellent wine, beautiful plates and charming service. Just a perfect evening. Loved meeting the 2 D's and wish them continued success!
I was fortunate to get a reservation once during a short visit and know I'll be dreaming and craving another experience from New York. Great food from start to finish! I had the most tasty and crispy duck breast that was cooked to perfection and I know it will never be duplicated. My companion had cod fish that was pan... plus
I had to ask the above question. We were a little taken back with the road construction and our cab driver suggested we walk the last block, but it was well worth it. I have had the privilege of dining with Philippe and Catherine weekly for the last several months. I have experienced almost every item on the menu. The quality of the food and service is consistently excellent by any standard. The perfect relaxed Bistro environment. This is a restaurant not to be missed!
We enjoyed a very good meal here last week. The steak was superb, the desserts outstanding. The gazpacho and salad were good; the duck confit was tasty but a little dry. The owners, who serve as chef and host/server, were friendly and attentive. This is a place we would recommend. But as frequent travelers to Montreal, this is not then... plus
I went here with my boyfriend on the long weekend for a nice dinner. It surpassed our expectations. The service was fantastic and the food was one of the best meals we have ever had. This great little bistro is tucked away in a non-touristy, residential corner of Montreal and we would never have found it without Tripadvisor. Bistro Duo.D was an amazing experience. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to go "bistro casual" instead of formal french dining for one of the dinners on our anniversary vacation to Montreal. We had a little trouble finding this restaurant and unfortunately arrived about 15 mins late for our reservation. However, the hostess/co-owner graciously seated us. DuoD is a small bistro in the Griffintown section of Montreal...it's nicely decorated, very comfortable and sophisticated in a causal sort of way. It's owned by a husband/wife team...husband is chef and the wife manages the "front". The food was very good and service was excellent. The one negative is that the menu is very limited.
This small restaurant serves a limited menu but a very creative one. The owner is most helpful in recommending wine.
When we told the taxi driver the address and the restaurant name, he said he had never heard of it and suggested that we try other restaurants that were more popular and that he pointed out along the way. We started wondering if we had made a good choice for the evening, but we were not disappointed! In fact, we... plus

All the other 5 star reviews are true, this little bistro serves absolutely wonderful French bistro food in warm and welcoming surroundings with friendly and attentive service from the hostess, Catherine. Expectations were high, given the reviews on TA. The escargots were excellent. The mains of confit de canard and steak frites were good but nothing to really rave about. Limited wine list. Awesome food, awesome service, awesome owners! This chef/owner has been the head chef in many of Montréal's best restaurants. And his wife is spot on in the service department.
We started with the smoked salmon, which was paper thin and obviously made in house. We devoured it! The pate was a generous portion, light, almost fluffy, and out of this world.
