Best chowder west of Mahone Bay. Best Paella west of the Ramblas. Great service. Can't wait for and excuse to go back. It's almost like a Tsunami washed a really good seafood restaurant up in Calgary.

Food was great--wild mushroom something or other with duck. The black cherry mimosas were pretty tasty too. Great place for brunch, a hidden gem for sure.

It doesn't look like much from the outside - there is a much bigger restaurant next door, but this is a GEM of seafood. Yes I know we are in a landlocked area, but an International Airport is within 10 km!

This place has exceptional food! Tried the salmon and walleye both fantastic. Great flavor and cooked to perfection.

The environment and service is on the casual side so don't expect high end dinning. It's a laid back atmosphere which is great for a night out or just with friends.

Tbh there is not much to say - if you enjoy seafood this is one of the best in the city!

I had a really mean fish craving last night. We could have picked any restaurant that had a fish dish on the menu but we picked Big Fish because it's all about fish.

Oh my. Pistachio-crusted Arctic char, plated at just the right temperature and paired with a light, crisp 2013 La Vieille Ferme. Best service I have had in a restaurant in north america! The hostess was attentive, entertaining but not intrusive. It was free corkage night, and they made no fuss that we brought our own bottle of wine, they even brought a container of ice to chill it, and the hostess opened and served. Nice touch! Great for Seafood Lovers

This was my second time dining here and it did not disappoint. I love seafood and the style and quality of the meals is always amazing. I would definitely recommend the seafood platter which comes with some of the freshest tasting fish I've ever had. Seafood Lovers Delight

This restaurant has defined fresh and creative . We started with NZ oysters in kiwi sauce which tickled the tastebuds - expensive - yes - but hey I can't go the heaven with a u-haul so enjoy the moment. Delicious and such great fun

Started out with the mussels, order extra bread as you will not want to miss one drop of this sauce. Between our group, we had scampi, seafood enchiladas, and crab salad. Great presentation, seafood was fresh and all were happy with their meals. Nice casual ambience, and attentive service. We always enjoy our lunch here.

Love Big Fish

Made a quick reservation for supper following an informational meeting and it did not disappoint. The wine list was accommodating and the food was superb. The raw oyster bar is always a favorite as the PEI offerings are delightful. We keep coming back again and again as the food is consistently terrific!

God meal sub par service

The food was excellent had the Lamb & lobster burger and the Seafood Pot au feu both were excellent and the fish taco's as an appetizer were excellent as well. The waitress was inattentive and seemed disinterested in serving.

They do not know what Paella is

Ordered the seafood Paella on a sunday. Their version is some grilled seafood and sausage on a bed of rice, not the proper paella. They didn't even cook the seafood in the rice. Rice is wrong type. Their chef needs to go to cooking school to learn what paella is. Waiter did not know what real paella is. I had to show him pics on my phone. Will not be returning for paella.

Warm night with no a/c. Fish was good. Cooked perfectly. Very neighborhood with little ambiance. Limited menu. Prices on the higher side. If you don't want to be a tourist this is place for you.

Nice Cosy feel

I really love this place. The dining experience was quite remarkable. I'm very picky with what I eat but was blown away by the properly seasoned food and the excellent service.

What a fantastic find. Our entrees were delicious and the pecan pie was the best I have ever had.

We went for lunch for my husbands birthday and as usual the food was wonderful. We find it just as good as the oyster bar but a lot quitter and you don't have to pay outrageous fees for parking. I only wish it was in the south.

Love Big Fish!

I had only been to this restaurant once before a few years back but I have been pretty happy with it both time. I am a big seafood fan and they do not disappoint, the raw oysters were great too, really nice sauces servied with it. Our waiter Scott was also great

Not bad for brunch

I have not been to Big Fish for brunch before. I ordered the eggs benny with Dungeness crab; my friend the egg dish with duck confit. We both felt the dishes were under-seasoned - disappointing for the eggs benny in particular! With such sweet crab, I was expecting a brighter, tastier Hollandaise sauce. Oh well - atleast you can make a reservation for brunch, which is pretty fantastic.

The hot oysters were great. The rest of the meal was disappointing. The salad wraps were mostly rice, the pot eu feu was tasteless my boyfriend did not enjoy the curry chicken and he normal eats everything. Also the wine they had lacked body and flavor. Won't go back.

Great for brunch

This is a regular for us for brunch - we love that they take reservations.The brunch items are a little unique - trout is served with one. They serve toasted fresh bread & homemade jam with each meal - both are scrumptious. The daily special is always a sure bet.

Fabulous meals

The appetizers were excellent. They were not quite a meal in themselves, however they were appetizers. The Arctic Char was excellent and cooked the perfect amount of time. We enjoyed the halibut and rice pilaf, though I thought it could have had a few more vegetables with it. The salad with the smoked salmon was excellent. The Chocolate Ganache with Raspberries I did not really enjoy. The texture was a bit mushy and it was a bit too sweet. Good food, good service. The frogs' legs were fantastic. We went on Sunday night and most of us had the paella - it was pretty good. I felt the clams could have been a little fresher (they were still good, just not great), but we are land locked and it was over all very tasty. Big Fish, You Rock

Our latest dining experience at Big Fish was,as usual outstanding. We always choose mussels for appetizer, the taste is unequalled. The main course was Artic Char, always done to perfection. We have also tried the Lamb/Lobster burger, and other dishes in the past. Friendly staff, lots of smiles.

First experience at Big Fish

This was our first experience with this restaurant and found the food to be worth recommending to family and friends. We intend to return to enjoy other dining experiences in the near future.

Great Food

I had the trout burger and it was amazing. We split a poutine and they brought two equal sized bowls so we can each have our own serving, which was very thoughtful. The only bad thing is when we asked if we could hold our employee xmas dinner there, the maximum reservation is 12 and we would need more than that. Other than that it was great.

Excellent brunch

Dropped in before a flight back to Toronto. Had the two for one oysters (east and west coast). Very good. Followed by some egg scramble on duck confit hash and soft shell crab sandwich. All washed down with a few glasses of a Sardinian white. All very good especially the blueberry preserves.

This restaurant was ok but not ok for these prices. As a seafood place should they not have some crab, muscles and other seafoods?
Oysters were perhaps the smallest I've seen anywhere.

Edmonton Trail keeps knocking me out of the park each time I try and place here. There's Cerezo, OEB, Diners Deluxe, and Open Range.

I hopelessly tried to hit up OEB for lunch, but to no avail. OEB is always ridiculously busy. I want to get in on the hype, but I'm not going to wait an hour or more to try.

My husband and I have been on an extreme fish kick and decided we would head over to Big Fish for our anniversary--- The mussels were delicious but our entrées was not so spectacular..... it was under seasoned and the garnishes were blah.... for what they charge I expected more.

Not sure why it took me so long to try this place, it was amazing! Great, fresh seafood, good service and a fun diner atmosphere. One of the few places in the city that has soft shell crab. A must try for any seafood lover!

Our favourite breakfast/bunch place

The sister restaurant to Open Range is great for brunch on weekends and also for lunch/dinner mid-week. We always make a reservation as this place is busy on weekends - it's been discovered! A good, varied menu and the service is always second to none. Pleasant neighbourhood feel. The food is always good and a little different. Would highly recommend.

Delicious Brunch

The Brunch at Big Fish is fantastic. I had the Basil and Crab Eggs Benedict and would recommend them to anyone. I'll definitely go back.

Love it or not

there is no in between, love it not. Food is excellent but for 100 dollars (for two) we can have sushi and drinks. As for atmosphere, its OK, nothing fancy. had the walleye, was quite fatty, my brother had the bucket of shrimp, which I veered far away from. there was a rock in my lentil's, nearly lost a tooth. Comp'd my meal though so it was ok.

I brought my client & team here for a business meeting and I am glad that I didn't have to add much to the conversation because the trout burger was so good I couldn't stop eating it. It was so delicious that I could have eaten another one immediately after.

I was looking for a light breakfast / brunch so I ordered the scrambled eggs and local chicken sausage and some orange juice.

It came with two pieces of toast, some jam and breakfast hash. It was all delicious and very filling. So much for the light breakfast.

The whole thing came down to $15 including GST. The service was pretty good too.

Converted me to eating fish

Enjoyed a memorable meal there with friends. I've visited this restaurant a number of times and again just tonight and it has never let me down.

This is Alberta, so I'm not surprised the seafood wasn't fresh - it was frozen, which was to be expected. What wasn't acceptable was the attempt at gourmet seafood dishes using ingredients that just didn't work. Big Fish serves surprisingly good breakfast, and is one of the few places along Edmonton Trail that isn't lined up out the door on a weekend morning - yay!
