Good for overnight stay
August 19, 2014Stayed here while on a ATV trip. Room was clear and comfortable but very small, especially the bathroom. Pool and restaurant were under renovations. Lots of restaurant choices within walking distance. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi. I thought it was pricey for what it was.

Good place to stay during Gemboree
August 19, 2014nice clean quiet room, management is doing a good job of renovating while remaining open. Breakfast area is too small but good selection of food very comfortable seating I don't agree with some of the negative reviews that a few malcontents have written.

Getting better, very slowly
August 19, 2014This is an average motel, now undergoing renovations, and probably will be unfinished for some time. But there is not much to choose from travelling in the area, and it has a convenient location. Expensive for what you get. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

August 19, 2014Great location-Older hotel in cottage country. Great as motorcycle tour location. Walk to restaurants and is on main road. Typical "cottage country units" but very clean, comfortable beds. Great breakfast. Rates seem high but there is little else comparable in the area.

Clean Rooms and Welcoming Staff, No Pool or Eats

Very nice Hotel

Very Good for Bancroft

We stayed at the BW Bancroft several times. Although we found it was far better in the past, we still like it. The restaurant has definitely gone downhill. Go to Dave's Place on Madawaska or Mirrors Café in Paudash Lake area for meals.
The rooms are nice, the suites are big. Our favourite feature is the indoor swimming pool.

Bancroft mud bog 2014
April 27, 2014Very nice rooms, continental breakfast was very good, could use more selection (example, Bacon, sausage, etc..) Still under renovations, looking forward to end product next year! Great Spot for Sledders
February 17, 2014My girlfriend and I have stayed multiple times at the Sword on various snowmobiling adventures. The rooms are clean and warm. It has a pool, hot tub and sauna that we made use of. It is right on the trails and close to restaurants etc. The staff is friendly, we will be back again this season.

Our room was in the back building separated from the pool so needed to walk out in the freezing cold after swimming. January 22, 2014We used the Bancroft Sword Best Western for our Ski-doo HQ for a trip to Golden Lake. We stayed in a suite, and found it to be incredible for our needs. The ski-doo trails connect right from the hotel parking lot, and there is amble parking in the back for the trailors.

Overpriced for an outdated facility
August 30, 2013We needed a last minute accommodation on a trip and used this place and would not recommend it at the price. Mid week price was 135+ and no breakfast. Place has seen minimal updating from the 70's with rust on the bathroom lights, etc. If you can find some other place do or get a better price on this one..

Expected more from a Best Western and for the $
July 29, 2013TV is in corner, can't see it from bed. Rooms smell funny. Fridge didn't work. Hear everything from the neighbouring rooms. Hotel food was disappointing and plain. Indian buffet because it was owned by Indian people. Definitely expected better quality from a Best Western. For $165 for a queen suite it was not worth it.

We sold our cottage 2 years ago and now go up and stay a hotel.
This year I thought "Stay in the Sword."

Fine for our one night stay
