The Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn is newly renovated in August 2011. This 100% non-smoking Richmond, British Columbia hotel is less than five kilometers from the Vancouver International Airport, the
Only stayed there for a few hours between flights.,
Good clean.quiet, hotel, friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet.
The staff were all OK except for the person who I called re: shuttle information. When I landed at YVR I asked where to get the shuttle, she replied downstairs at arrivals. Downstairs at YVR is quite a large area, So I asked specifically which door by then she had hung up on me. I am really not that particular about hotels or decor, especially when I will be there on a stop over with just enough... more
Nothing fancy and a little dated but rooms were clean and the staff friendly. Fairly quiet to outside noise but other guests crashing around woke us up.
Most rooms are musty. Our group had two rooms and we all ended up sick with a lung infection or similar. This place would not be good for kids with lung issues. Bring your allergy pills.
Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn was very comfortable stay.
Good and reliable shuttle service. Not to quiet and along a major road
Excellent accomodation. We only stayed one night, but found it very comfortable.
Staff was friendly and room was clean. Hotel is getting a bit run down and sad to here the restaurant and bar will be closing soon.
ontbijt stelde niks voor en kamers stonken. We hebben vaker in een best Western gezeten maar deze viel zeer tegen
Complimentary breakfast is so-so. Only two styple could be chosen. Everyday is same.
Hotel needs to be updated. Smelled old when we walked in. Staff were very friendly so that was not a problem. One of the towels in the bathroom smelled so I wondered if it got laundered or not. Was okay but I wouldn't stay there again.
Both drivers of shuttle bus are friendly and helpful and the free breakfast is good and service is excellcence
good overall experience nice location and very near airport
The room smelled like cooked food and curry. Very disappointed. We have stayed here several times in the past but not lately. Hotel has gone down hill. How it rates as a Best Western "Plus"I do not know. Very shabby and dated.
I suggest only booking by phone. If you require park and fly they will not call to recommend it even if you send a note stating that you may require it. I booked on line ans once I checked in she advised me that she was aware that we may require parking based on my booking but because I didn't call to book I would have to pay $70 versus $ 40. Dissappionting!!!
Hotel very convienent if you are on your way to fly out from Vancover Airport, hotel rooms a bit tired could do with a make over, bedding very thin hadn't been ironed and actually looked like it wasn't clean, I expect they get a lot of 1 night stays due to their location would like to think that sheets are changed between guests but have my doubts. If you have breakfast included in your stay... more
The room is very clean. Very close to Richmond city center. You can find a parking easily.
We liked the hotel as it is close to the airport and the down town. They provided us complementary breakfast which is very nice and we don't need to look around in the morning. The price is good for the facility. Looking forward to stay there in future too.
We enjoyed our recent stay of two nights. Location is excellent close to the airport. Our room was better than expected due to recent refurbishment. Overall a good stay in a good location and meals on site were also very good. We would recommend this hotel.
We used this hotel because of its proximity to the YVR Vancouver Airport, its shuttle service to/from the airport and its option to leave our car there (for a fee) during our vacation. It met our needs very well in all respects. Staff was friendly and courteous. First night our room had a cigarette smell in it, and the front desk immediately moved us to a different room when we reported the... more
Hotel is old but clean. Breakfast is decent. Free shuttle bus to and from the airport every 30 minutes. We stayed there before and after our cruise tour, suit the purpose. Good value for the price. One can walk to Sky Train in about 10 minutes, another 20 minutes train ride to downtown. Chinese grocery store and liquor store nearby.
Rooms are small and very cramped, mainly due to poor design and badly fitting furniture (chair that does not fit under the desk, fridge in a cupboard that is too small to allow the door to open, and so on). Oh, and you're kidding no-one by putting the TV remote in a little bag with "fresh remote" written on it... The 'restaurant' is abysmal- missing orders, poor quality food, and completely... more
The staff were great especially in the restaurant. They were constantly busy but very helpful and polite.
The room came with a full hot breakfast included. We were quite excited about that bonus, but unfortunately it was not at all worth eating. The scrambled eggs (mad with Liquid egg) were rubbery, the sausage and ham were left on my husband's plate, (which is something I never see) because he said they tasted awful. I had the vegetarian version so at least I enjoyed the side vegetables. Many of... more
The room was much smaller then it looks. Somewhat clean but very out dated. The bathroom title had mold on it the sheets had stains. The second night the pillow had some kind of yellow thing on it. The room was quiet. When eating at the restaurant I found the staff not friendly nor helpful. It was very hard to get someone to help us. I did not eat the next morning there due to the poor service... more
It was close to the airport and served the purpose. The restaurant served good food but was short staffed when we were there. However, they all rose to the occasion and did a fine job.
I had a good time staying here. Reminds me of a German Garten Inn.
We only spent one night before our cruise. It was a pleasant stay for the cost. Staff was friendly but one complaint: when you see 2 women with a cart full of luggage struggling to push it into the hotel, either offer to assist or call for help please!
good location and rooms, but poor breakfast service. the breakfast is free, but I'd rather pay for better service.
Everything was good BUT! The traffic noise was disgraceful I don't think there was any noise proofing at all, it went all night long.
Was passing through Vancouver and needed to stay somewhere near the airport, wow - will never stay here again. Weird decor/theme, small room with way too much furniture in it, old, overpriced and not near any restaurants. If you arrived at night like myself and needed a bite you eat - you have to walk 10 min away, along a busy road, under a dark overpass - very sketchy, to the next hotel. Might... more
Nice hotel within walking distance to sky train and Casino. Very nice breakfast included. We had a lunch and a dinner and the meals we very nice and good value. Airport shuttle was great. The hotel was value for money.
Godt med gratis bus til/fra lufthavnen. Dårlig/kedelig morgenmad. Fint værelse men lige ud til larmende vej.
We left our car for a 7 day cruise to Alaska and stayed the night before and the night after. Very nice and excellent restaurant for dinner and complimentary breakfast.
We stayed at this Hotel on Thursday 29 August for one night after flying to Vancouver from London Heathrow. The Hotel was so easy to find and only 10 minutes from the airport. The staff at reception were friendly and welcoming. The Hotel looked "quaint" from the outside but was spotlessly clean and well decorated inside. The restaurant was very good and the staff were helpful as I was very... more
Beakfasts were very good. Evening dinners good as well.
Pleasantly surprised how quiet the room was considering how close the hotel was to the airport. After a long day of driving, we did not want to drive around town looking for a place to eat. Stayed here while passing through Vancouver Airport. It's just 5 km from the airport in Richmond. There is a shuttle. Neighbourhood is all busy... more
This was our base camp for my family and I as we visited Richmond over a weekend. Hotel worn, musty & dark. Poor breakfast no buffet ,milk & juice were an extra charge. . Poor value for the money spent. Difficult to find as the directions given on the website are ALL wrong. Sewer smells near the front doors.
Stayed in many Best Westerns. This one caught my attention right away when I went to check in for my reservation. The front desk clerk immediately told me go sit down for five minutes, she was busy! The next thing was the smell and dinginess of the hallways. Old, smelly and outdated.
We have always enjoyed dining at the restaurant at the Abercorn - the food is perfect and the service exceptional. We were there tonight for my birthday and once again, the total experience hit the spot. When you get great food not once or twice but at least 10 times, something has to be done well - Congrats - the... more
This hotel is close to the Vancouver airport, the shuttle was on time, every half hour to and from the hotel, it stops at one other hotel also.

Princess cruise took us to the airport where we called the hotel and they picked us up. They took us directly to the hotel in the AM and our room was waiting for us. The room was clean, and the desk staff extremely helpful in booking a 1/2 day tour of the city.
This hotel is not as outdated as I thought it might be based on the other reviews. It's just fine. The bedding and carpeting in the rooms are new, which is most important to me with dustmite allergies. The hallways are dark for sure and the rooms could use another bulb or two in the ceiling fixtures, but there's good... more
Located near to YVR with free transportation with ample parking ($$) at the rear of the hotel for extended stays. Room was clean and had a bar fridge, however hallways are dark and dated. Restaurant staff friendly front desk staff could smile a bit more.
If you have options, stay elsewhere. We arrived at midnight and the crib we requested was a pack n' play left unopened. When setting it up we noticed the mattress was crusted in a substance resembling vomit. The hotel is dated, bathrooms are small and the free breakfast is a plated option of eggs and meat or eggs and veg.... more
My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Abercorn Inn for 4 nights on our honeymoon. It was the worst experience we have ever had when dealing with hotels. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Very good restaurant in hotel. Would stay here again.

My wife and I needed a place to stay near the airport in Vancouver due to a very early flight out the following morning. This place was also fairly inexpensive so we settled on here. Excellent hotel to spend night in after monumental Rogers Arena concert featuring Queen and Adam Lambert. Well positioned with great breakfast and easy access back to the Vancouver Island ferry service. Will likely come again!!
Abercorn Inn is my hotel of choice when I am in Vancouver for business or personal. It is a quaint place with excellent and friendly staff. The breakfast is a great start to the day. My husband and I needed someplace near the airport to stay for one night before an early flight out of Vancouver; I found a low rate on this place through my Costco membership. My wife and I stayed at this hotel on either end of a trip to Mexico. Access to the airport and the fact that there is a shuttle is the precise reason we stay at this location. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to our friends.
Location so easy to use public transportation, complimentary shuttle to and from airport. Great food in pub and restaurant Complimentary hot breakfast from menu served hot and good selection from menu. Staff in breakfast room very good . Front desk staff knowledgeable and helpful regarding area and things to do.
I stayed there for 3 days(23-26th. May. 2014- 09th.- 11th. June 2014). at this hotel, before and after my cruise. The hotel is clean and quiet. Unfortunately I had a room that had a musty smell and the carpet was crispy when I walked on it with bare feet. I was very tired from long travelling hours so did not have the energy to ask for a better room. Very pleasant staff, but I wouldn't stay again
We always stay at Best Western Abercorn when using the airport in Vancouver. All of the staff is superb. We get a good sleep and feel at home. All of the staff is good. They treat you like family. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when using the airport in Vancouver.
This was a nice surprise! Although a little dated very well kept. Very clean comfortable rooms. Bathtubs have an interesting design that make them seem larger and comfortable for bathing - I like baths. Large towels. Free sit down breakfast meat lovers or veggie. Very helpful staff. Just a great bargain.
This hotel worked out perfectly with our Enterprise car rental, and shopping at Costco, right across the street. The hotel staff was very friendly, and explained the history of the Scottish theme of the property. Nice clean rooms, great early morning shuttle service to the airport for our 6:00AM flight.
excellent hotel, good service , shuttle to airport on time, airport drop off for departure is lower level -- very poor, a real hassle with luggage , but normally expected from the Canada government. No user friendly attitude for any government service.
This hotel is located near the Vancouver Airport. We stayed for four nights while preparing to take a cruise. The hotel offers large, neat, clean and well appointed rooms. The staff and their service are excellent. The hotel restaurant is very good and has exceptional dinner items.
This hotel is a great base for exploring Vancouver and Victoria.
We travel to northern BC to visit family at least twice a year. The motel was an older BW, but in good condition. Nice, comfortable room. I think the bathtub had it's own zip code due to its size (which the wife liked.) The people in the restaurant were friendly. The only complaint is the rattling noise coming from the air conditioner.
Clean rooms, comfortable beds and very helpful staff. However, the building is a little dated and the decor and furniture in our room needed to be renovated. The shuttle to the airport was very handy as well as the close location to Enterprise car rental. I would stay there again in the future if the rooms are renovated.
This is a good best western, with comfortable room, fitness center, restaurant on site, friendly staff, and convenient to the highway where my colleague came from to pick me up each day. I stayed one night after a long flight from Sydney and then travelling on to Toronto the next morning. Close to the airport, having a shuttle bus and being a Best Western rewards member were the reasons I selected this hotel. The bonus was the Tim Hortons in walking distance just down the road.

My husband and I stayed the night before a cruise out of Vancouver and we were very pleased with the hotel. Location wise it was great, very close to a train station that'll take you all the way to the harbor or if you go in the opposite direction one stop (which isn't a bad walk to either) will get you to a nice local mall that has plenty of restaurants. Great place to stay if you need a place close to airport for an early morning flight or late arrival. free shuttle every 1/2 hour to and from airport, friendly staff, long term parking available at reasonable rate.
Feel the Hotel just needs a wake up call as things have not changed in the few times we have stayed there. Front desk staff informed me that I had no reservation but eventually found it. In Vancouver it might be a good idea for the Hotel to have umbrellas available for the guests.
They have nice rooms, free breakfast, refrigerators in the room, staff is friendly quality coffee in the room also. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean and close to the airport. Parking is a little tricky and there is two entrances and exits which is good for getting out during high traffic times
it was great..staff was helpfull..rooms clean cozy.. location was perfect recommend to friends to stay here
The hotel is not in the center of vancouver but it has a good location cause its wellconected. It has free shuttle to and from the airport, it is 5 min walk from a bus/skytrain station that conects with all the city and has a convenient store 1 min walk.Recommended if you are using public transport.Included breakfast is good (eggs, fruit, toast, potatoes, coffee).
checkout time was graciously extended to allow for a later transfer to airport which is in close proximity to hotel..........10 min. away.
Very nice & comfortable Airport Hotel. The building is very classic & country look. Unexpectedly good at good price.
Over all my experience was good. They have changed their continental breakfast to a breakfast in the restaurant, giving you a voucher equal to eight dollars. Cute quaint older hotel, with new remodel inside. The room was clean and nice size, and the King bed was very comfortable! I could hear the freeway, but it wasnt a bother for me. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was good, and I even had Tuna steak one night that was excellent. It's within walking distance to the sky-train and casino or a $5 cab ride :)
Poor value. Older hotel in need of updating. Breakfast included but instead of a buffet, a fixed menu of three items (one of which was all potatoes). A voucher for $8 that meant anything other than the main item and coffee everything else was extra. Below average food. Well located for airport or expressway access to Vancouver or the US.
This was a nice hotel. Convenient to public transportation and tasty free breakfast. Our only concern was that the promised laundry did not exist. It was listed on the website and in the hotel materials in the room. Front desk tried to tell me they must mean dry cleaning. No way. Otherwise, good place!

We stayed here last year and thought it was good value but this year was no good. The initial room was not what we had booked, the hotel was not as clean as the year before and the breakfast service had changed and is now terrible...we gave up in the end after waiting to be served for 1 hour! last year it was buffet style and we were quite happy to help ourselves.

Some shuttle buses from the airport have "Hampton Inn" on their side, and the drivers do not stop long enough to ask for Abercorn Inn visitors, so we waited much longer than we should have to get to the hotel.
We liked having a decent restaurant right in the hotel. We appreciated the shuttle to the airport.

This comfortable was within walking distance to the train station. During summer weekends, it is also within walking distance to the wonderful night markets. Either two train stops or 20 minute walk and you are in the "new'" Chinatown district. Finally, there is even a Costco if you forgot to get the smoked Coho or Sockeye salmon gift. The location was good about 15 min walk to the sky trains that take you all over the city. I even recommended it to some people we met while visiting Bouchart Gardens that wanted to be nearer the airport. Be sure to ask for a room away from the pub if there on a Friday night.
Good very convienient! Enjoyed our time in Surrey.
been going to this hotel for many years.Nice quiet place, close to what we go to vancouver for.Easy parkingFREE REAL BREAKFAST!THE MOST COMFORTABLE BEDS I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN!
Was a great location for getting around the Vancouver area. Very convenient to the airport.
Had 2 cars broken into while at a party. None of the staff offered any help what so ever. Then while cleaning the broken glass outside, the hotel shuttle driver told us that cars get broken into in this parking lot all the time. Yet they have no motion lights or cameras set up to help prevent anything. Please be very careful at this hotel. There are many hotels near by so try those ones first.
A small but lovely hotel in Richmond area. Their breakfast is very delicious and if you wake up late the food may be empty.
“For travelers who appreciate a quaint, quality character accommodation for an overnight or weekend stay, the Abercorn Inn delivers that and a convenient location that gives you easy access to Metro Vancouver and the International Airport, the Vancouver Island Ferry Terminals and an easy drive to the USA border crossing into Seattle and SeaTac International Airport. There is lots of shopping in... more
I have to say I honestly give this hotel a 5 star rating for the BEST service a bride could ask for. July 25/2010 we chose the Abercorn Inn to hold our wedding reception. We dealt with Kelly in catering and Robert, their chef and they made our vision a reality. They went above and beyond to make our reception perfect offering an affordable menu which I insisted everything had to be healthy and... more
I hold meetings here all of the time. Great location... decent staff - delicious food... good times at the pub. Satisfied.
Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was a full breakfast. Courtesy van took us to airport. Bed was lumpy. Facility needs some updating. Overall it was what we needed at the time for l night.
Very friendly and speedy check-in. Most helpful in giving directions for shopping and meetings.
The staff was very accommodating and the pub was comfortable. A breakfast menu item that everyone talked about from past visits, corned beef hash, was no longer available, causing some disappointment.
“I would stay there again. Good value for the price.”
“ It was a decent and clean hotel. It was not very fancy and the decor in the hallways was a bit dated, but overall I was very satisfied with my stay (OK, the pillows were a bit too big for my taste). Occasionally the air was a little stale, but I could open a window for a couple minutes and that took care of it.
”
The hotel offers complimentary highspeed internet and breakfast. The location is convenient and staff friendly. Only the room was a little small for a family and hallways are narrow.
Quiet, Clean and Charming. I'm definitely staying there again! Great Access to the Airport as well as the Tswwassen Ferry Terminal. Good Shopping nearby and excellent value for the money!
“This was our first time in Canada so we do not know if the location was good, but as a family with a young child we loved the relaxed manner. The fact that the hotel was small, created a more intimate and friendlier climate. Families with older children would be hard-pressed to occupy their minds/time, but otherwise cleanliness, hygiene, quality and cost of food in the restaurant, the vouchers... more
“Needs to be updated, renovated. Seemed dark and dingy.”
“Convenient location, clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurant food was extremely delicious and breakfast was fast and convenient.”
My family of 3 used this hotel for the night before our departure from Vancouver. We were impressed with the care the staff took to make sure we were booked on shuttles for an early departure to the airport (we were leaving at different times). They were also very helpful in assiting us in locating a specific restaurant. We would stay again.
This was a good place to stay near the airport for a night or two. The room was clean and comfortable, but the hotel is a bit old and could use an update. The restaurant was good and the breakfast coupon that is included in the price can either be used for a complimentary continental breakfast or for $6 off the breakfast menu, which is quite good. We stayed here with our 13 month old son and... more
This is a good hotel for night between flights. The rooms are good and so is the staff. However, the restaurant was only open from 5 to 9pm and I wasn't informed of the hours, even after I asked when it would open. There isn't much in walking distance.
“Friendly service, clean modern comfortable rooms, good restaurant, close to airport, good shuttle service.”
“This hotel is close to the airport and across the street from Costco and a couple of blocks away from Rona. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable with a variety of free channels on the TV. ”
“It had good access to both the city of Vancouver and to the airport, if the latter is important to the traveler, it wasn't to me. Its Scottish theme was quite pleasant and not over done. We did not eat at the hotel but we did receive breakfast vouchers which was a nice touch. Overall I would stay there again.”
“This is a clean and comfortable hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. It has a courtesy shuttle from the airport and a credit towards a daily breakfast selection is also provided.”
“out of town, small, heater did not work, bathroom was not clean”
