Great food! Service was a bit slow

Service was a bit slow due to lunch time rush hour. Also, the server got one of our orders wrong. However, the food was absolutely delicious and well worth the wait. Therefore I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Fine food, interesting menu selections, marred by pushy service, working us out of the room, despite many empty tables. Were the servers shifts about to end? Don't know.

My lunch entailed a lunch meeting. I chose Belgo because I knew there is always a good range of diverse, tasty items on the menu from which to choose. While there is an 'energy' to the restaurant which I like, there are also spots in the restaurant where you can carry on a good conversation where people are easily heard. It is easily accessible. The staff is courteous and professional.

Belgo was awesome!

We came here with about 12 people for a stagette dinner. Rob was our server and he was great. Everybody loved their food and drinks!

Disappointing after so many years

The lunch servers were overwhelmed with so many orders at one time and should not be surprised that office staff have ONE hour to order and eat before getting back to work.

Went to Belgo for lunch with an old friend. Service was great, food was quick and good. Will go back again.

Looks like the service improved a lot. The food was always very good. This is why I keep coming back.

Sirloin salad

We ordered the wedge salad and weren't asked how we wanted our meat cooked ( steak that came wih it) it came out pretty much rare and ended up

Great Downtown Eatery

Who would have guessed that Calgary had such a great downtown eatery so close to shops and businesses and a wonderful spot to meet friends for lunch anytime. The menu is versatile and modern with great choices for everyone.

Super slow

I've had lunch here a few times - the location is great and normally the food is excellent however it appears Belgo may be a victim of it's success. The food was below average - clearly too long on the wait table and bordering on cold, and it was nearly an hour before we received our food.I was quite disappointed, especially having taken a guest and promoting the restaurant pretty energetically.

Our group of ten people had a very nice, quiet breakfast at Belgo. The service was accurate and friendly; and the food was good. I would recommend for breakfast if you haven't tried it yet!

Corporate Lunch

I booked this restaurant for a corporate lunch and although the food was excellent the service was not as great. Didn't get the correct drink initially and three people didn't get their appetizers. Had to ask for them after the lunch.

Very poor service by waitress,when we complained to management, they were quick to respond and apologise, but this is not the first time we have had poor service by waitresses there. They get busy and forget about you.

Probably one of the best buffets I've ever had, went there for mothers day. Thank goodness for the good food because the waitress we had was horrible, she couldn't hang around to even get the whole tables drink orders....which was only 5 people....this happened literally everytime.

Resturant Snob

For a business lunch, not the best place, unless you need that much noise to fill up the conversation. I think the waitress' need new outfits.
If you want loud, then go there, if you want a cool place to hang with the guys after work, then definitely go there.

I've dined for lunch a few times at Bellgo. The location is convenient and the food is usually good. I wasn't that impressed with my meal this week but would dine there again. The food was just adequate. I wasn't left saying "boy that was good". I had a salad and while I requested the meal size portion, what I received was more like an appetizer. I'm not really complaining, just wasn't impressed.

The food was not the best and the selection pretty poor. The red wine list by the glass only included canadian and US wines, only one Argentinian Malbec, which they were out of. Overall ambience good, nice and trendy, good list of beers and wine, service good, the food, however, was a little underwhelming. Not bad for the price mind you, but food not up to snuff with expectations given the rest of the place. If you want a place to hang out downtown and have a few glasses of wine or some good beers, yup.

Business Breakfast Meeting

I sent 8 people to your restaurant this week for breakfast. Everyone enjoyed the food. The main reasons that I chose this restaurant are that it is close to work and the big reason was that you are not blasting your music especially early in the morning. I find it very difficult to find a restaurant that is quiet enough so you can talk to people and actually be able to hear each other.

A popular place, I would recommend a reservation for lunch. Plenty of seating available and they can accommodate large groups. They're open early and have a very nice breakfast menu too.

Underwhelming

I find this place very underwhelming. The menu is confused - all over the place and the food is okay. Nothing we have had was great - all just "okay." We did like the mussels though. Not planning on going back again any time soon.

Poutine was amazing. We had it w their mushrooms and it was the best blend of a flavorful sauce that wasn't too salty, fries that were well cooked and slightly crunchy and a huge assortment of great beers to wash it down to gear you up for the next bite. Their seafood selection was well prepared and definitely take a look at their chef's choices as they're a great deal.

Good choices on the menu. They are serious about the "Brasserie" theme and prepare lamb and seafood particularly well. Great choice of beers on tap plus some well selected wines. Went to the restaurant to meet some colleagues and got a fantastic sampler of steak, a great spring roll type dish and a seared halibut that was really really good. Just a great mix of flavours with some lovely textures. The drinks and service were good too!

A few of us from work came by because of the great beer selection. The atmosphere is great, it felt very Euro-American. The service was amazing, so much so that we stayed for dinner.

I should have read the reviews before going . Hindsight always 20/20. I see there has been no improvement. I hate spending 15.36 for one glass of Malbec that wasn't special and wasn't in a proper glass. Food was lousy also to make the night even worse. Maybe close or get better management.

I haven't been to Belgo for a while and was just there today on a business lunch. They had a folded up menu that was wrapped around my napkin. It was a different approach to receiving a menu, that's for sure. Then, the waitress came round and gave us the specials and they have this 2 for $25 deal. I don't have a real sense of what this place is like, as I only went for a staff Christmas party. So I don't know what it's like to walk in and pick something of the menu. But I do have a few thoughts from my own experience.

Another tough one to fit into a '5 Star' system. It's probably somewhere in between a two and a three but, oddly, I can also see a case for it being a four star (how weird is that??). Belgo tries hard to be an upscale Belgian Beer Bistro... probably one of the first 'gastro pubs/lounges' to give it a go in Calgary but, unfortunately, I think they miss it on a few levels.

One Great Place

Belgo offers an extensive beer, wine and food list. Prices are good value for what you get. I have been there several times and service has always been attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I would recommend Belgo to anyone looking for a brasserie experince.

the food is marginal, the crowd is young and dare I say ethnic, worst service ever. A massive waste of time and money. Go to Trib or Murrietas or Teatro or almost anywhere else.

Enticing Food, but is it worth it?

I have been to Belgo twice now and both times it was for lunch. The restaurant itself is very nice.
