I stayed here while working on a theatre production in town, and it will always be the first place I check when I stay in Ottawa from now on. Beautiful place, extremely accommodating, lovely part of town. I felt very welcome and at ease. Breakfast was great. I was keeping very strange hours, and they were very understanding and helpful.... more
Nice room in a beautiful and cozy house! Although I did not meet the owners until the following morning, they do have an efficient system that allows you to self-register! It was intriguing to sleep in someone's house without having met the people (especially as a solo traveller), but I gained confidence as time went by. The only trouble is... more
I found Brian & Carol and their helpers very friendly and welcoming - prepared to spend time to explain how I would go places and suggesting where I should go.
The breakfasts were great - freshly prepared fuit salad + cooked ( with fresh herbs from the garden).

I was so lucky to find this place! Being in Ottawa for a conference I decided to spend 3 days more to visit the city and the surroundings. search on net and found out this beautiful place! Perfect central location for us, easy to find. Older home, but lot's of character and well-kept. Would definitely go back! Thanks Brian and Carol!

The situation of the guest house is like an ideal. A peaceful place near the center and the tourist places to go and come back walking. The neigbourhood looks safe and quiet.

My husband and I had a wonderful 2 nights at this conveniently situated B&B. It was a short walk to our daughter's apt and close to U of Ottawa. We enjoyed our second floor room with its balcony--great for having a glass of wine. The room facing the back garden might be a bit quieter on a weekend night. For... more
This is a lovely B&B in a safe, convenient area of Ottawa. It's near such useful facilities as a laundromat and some small supermarkets. Brian and Carol offer a lovely breakfast and were always interested in a chat. My only issue was that the wireless connection was quite uneven throughout the house and was extremely weak in my room. This... more
I was in Ottawa for a few days to get my visa. Brian and Carol run a great little BnB; very relaxed, clean, and pleasant. The breakfasts are wonderful: tasty, and enough to carry you through till dinner if you're of a mind to eat that much. If I go to Ottawa again I will be looking them up.
I spent the long weekend in Ottawa and I am glad I chose to stay here ! Best location, on a quiet street close to the river and a 20-minute walk from downtown. I stayed in a room with shared bathroom at the 2nd floor, with a nice view of the back garden. The morning breakfast was one of the... more
We arrived at the Australis Guest House on rather last-minute notice, given that we were visiting Ottawa on the long weekend, but Brian and Carol were able to offer us a lovely place to stay, along with good insider tips on when to visit various hotspots and the lesser-known attractions. We were given a large room with a private, ensuite... more
My mom and I stayed at the Australis Guest House for two nights in May. We did not have a car so the Australis was a great location because it was within walking distance of the bus. I was recently in Ottawa visiting my son who plays Jr A Hockey in Kanata. This inn was an absolute gem. It is in a lovely residential area close to the U of Ottawa and a 10 min walk to downtown and 5 min to the canal. The inn is historic and rich in charm, from the lovely guest rooms... more
My partner and I had a good time during our stay at Australis Guest House. It is located in a residential area but there are buses nearby that go to downtown. The room was nice and with enough space. Australis Guest House is a great place to stay at in Ottawa, and its owners Brian and Carol Waters are great people. Australis Guest House is in fact less than a 2.5 kilometer walk from Parliament Hill on Wellington Avenue.
I'm almost a regular at Australis and I would never consider making a different choice.
It's not only the perfect location, the quiet neighborhood, the rich (for both food and chats) breakfast that made my stays here very enjoyable and rich. Brian and Carol are welcoming you always very warmly and they help you out with any problem/need that you...

What a great find. We've stayed at lots of B&B's and this one's a gem in every way. Carol and Brian make you feel welcome as soon as you set foot in the door. Staying at the Australis Guest House was great!
We had delicious breakfasts, Carol and Brian were very kind and they give us a lot of tips and human warmth! We definitely recommend this place to everyone!
Sorry, the hosts are lovely but the only word to describe the shared toilet on the first floor is cramped. The single room isn't much better. Try a different room and you will have a lovely stay in a lovely part of Ottawa.
Hot shower. Breakfast was on time and awesome. Comfiest bed ever. Owners are pleasant and unintrusive. Staying at a bed and breakfast enhanced the experience because I got to feel what it's like to wake up return "home" as if I actually lived in the city in that neighbourhood. Very homey atmosphere and I felt very secure here.
This is a small B&B in a centric but quite part of the city run by Brian and Carol, both kind, warm and ready to help you and to give tips about the places to visit. Good, freshly done breakfast.
Australis Guest House is a very nice B&B with comfortable rooms. Brian and Carol serve an exquisite breakfast with homemade jam and marmalade, wafers, eggs prepared in different ways and fruit salad. This is a great place to stay. I went for one week for a course in the University of Ottawa. It's located in a very quiet neighbourhood, just 10 minutes to downtown. The owners are really kind people, the place is clean and the breakfast is delicious. What more can you ask?
First time I ever write a review, although I often read them. Ideal place for a weekend in Ottawa. Very close from the bus stop from Montreal, everything is at walking distance. And we were welcomed like at home. Everything is clean, and warm. And the cherry over the cake (I don't know if you can say that in English)... more
I have stayed at this bed & breakfast 6 times in the past 3 years. The proprietors are very friendly and very accommodating. The location in Sandy Hill is convenient for getting to the Byward Market, the Rideau Centre, the museums and Parliament Hill.
This was a great B&B - exactly what we were hoping for and the price was certainly right. The rooms were reasonably-sized, the breakfast was filling and tasty, and the location was within walking distance of Byward Market and downtown Ottawa. It's not the fanciest or most luxurious B&B and the owners are a little more passive than most (not... more
Upon awaking the first morning to hear "Better get rid of those scones, they've been around a bit," coming from the kitchen area, I wasn't sure what sort of weekend we'd encounter. A really great example of why staying in a B&B is just so nice! Brian was so friendly and helpful, the house is lovely and very comfortable. I was the only person staying there at the time so I really got amazing hospitality. It was such great value and I really enjoyed staying there, I'd definitely return.
They were accommodating to my odd arrival and departure hours. The house is turn of the century, great personality, clean. Breakfast was great, homemade preserves and awesome coffee.
Fantastic breakfasts, and friendly, helpful and caring owners. Carol and Brian made every aspect of our visit easy and pleasant. Will definitely be back!

Even before arriving I felt welcomed as I communicated by e-mail with Brian and Carol in preparation for my stay. I am especially grateful for their generous and knowledgeable assistance in tracking down a lost/stolen purse. Having lost the purse on... more
Like others, we enjoyed the Australis and recommend it. However, one point is worth noting about the top floor room. Because you have the whole floor, it's very spacious. But the floor is incredibly creaky. We couldn't even roll over in bed without making the floor emit loud noises. If that doesn't bother you, enjoy the hospitality.
We are a young couple who stayed at the Australis guest house for four nights in August 2011 and could not have asked for a better stay!
We have stayed in many guest houses on our travels in the past and this has been by far the best one! Carol and Brian are welcoming, friendly and full of advice for...

We had a very lovely 2 night stay here in June 2011. Carole, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgable about the city and made some good suggestions for what we could do while in the city.
