Welp! Gave Aunty's another shot and was really glad I did! Since Curry-in-a-Hurry has gone the way of the Dodo bird, I've been looking for a new Butter Chicken place and I've found it!
One thing I want to get to right off the bat that wins major stars for me is how CLEAN this place is. SPARKLING. When I walked in, there were 3 people cleaning. I was really impressed with this. This supremely...

Good food for the price and definitely has some tasty butter chicken. I do agree with some of the other Yelp reviews that Aunty's have been decreasing in quality. The chicken has been a bit dry (yes, even with the sauce and all) and just not as awesome.
They've taken away the engineering student special (10% off) so that kind of is a bummer.
Overall, the food is good but not great like it...

When Aunty's first opened, it was a solid 4.5 for me, but it's been declining over the years. The prices have been increasing (they were steep to begin with), while some of the portion sizes have decreased (I remember feeling a lot fuller with the fusion plate).
They accept vicinity, which is nice. I don't remember the exact point redemption, but it's not too favorable (60 points for a drink I...

I went back a couple more time base on pricing and I generally like the food.
The occasional time I get some strange thing in my food. (Picture shows a pit of some kind in my meal. I ordered the Fusion plate here.
Service is friendly and generally doesn't take too long for meals. My personal favourites are the fusion plate, butter chicken, and MSD.
Nonetheless, still my favourite thing in...

I would have given this five stars but they've been increasing their prices. The food itself is fantastic. I highly recommend the butter chicken.
Great food that comes fresh and quick. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed, yet upbeat. The butter chicken was great and the naan had the perfect seasoning/butter/crispness ratio, and I liked the BBQ Zubi wrap. I would definitely come back to try the biryani and the naan shawerma.
I got the butter chicken with naan and rice, and samosas. The samosas were rock hard, I wouldn't recommend them. On the other hand, the butter chicken was great. Other than the hard samosas, the only negative thing would be the wait time. Took about 15 minutes to get my order.
Love the chicken shawarma plate at this place!! Their garlic sauce is to die for! Always ask for extra :)
I've also tried the butter chicken poutine, the fish and chips, the naan shawarma, and the chilli chicken! They're all soso flavourful and really delicious. Also tried the tandoori chicken, which was really dry so I wasn't a big fan of it..
Recently the portion sizes have shrunk and the...

The food is good but what's better is their customer service. Especially when the owner is manning the kitchen. The quality of the food being sent out is kept high. The other day I came in with my dad and ordered some naans. When I was about to pick them up, the owner threw away the burnt ones ( wasn't even that burnt ) and told them to replace with better ones. Things like this makes me want... more
If you ask any student in the University Plaza, they are most likely going to know Aunty's Kitchen. It serves great fusion Indian food with big portions.
There's not much of an ambience or seating area, but I don't mind as I usually like to bring it home and eat such comfort food at the comfort of my own home. Most things are over $10 but I usually can't finish it in one sitting so the price...

I had the chicken shawarma plate; wasn't the best shawarma I've ever had, but they give you a lot of food. I'm not sure what some other reviewers were talking about but the portion sizes are quite large (mind you, it did cost 12 bucks).
Chicken was great, although not very flavourful; the fries were awesome and they also served it with a garden salad. It was lacking the usual blend of pickled...

I just want to warn you guys about their shwarma plate. It's really gross. Don't get it!!! Their butter chicken is still pretty good though.
Definitely disappointed in how the portion sizes have shrunk and the prices have gone up from 2-3 years ago.
When I was in first and second year (fourth year now), Aunty's used to be my go-to place for some really great Indian food. This was before their renovation. They used to have as much butter chicken in their butter chicken dinner as sides. Nowadays, you usually get 2-3 small pieces with...

The food per dollar here is pretty good. My only complaint is that the curry flavour in the buttered chicken is a bit lacking, and it's just spicy for the sake of being spicy.
We tried the Chilli chicken at the Food and Drink Show in Kitchener and it was great. In fact we both bought 2 helpings of it. Monday we were in the city and since it is a Monday special, we got two orders of chilli chicken. BIG disappointment, Huge. Monday's Chilli chicken was so loaded with sugar, I worried about going into a diabetic coma! It was nothing like it was at the F & D Show. Not... more
Consistent quality, something hard to find in the University plaza.
Aunty's Kitchen is an affordable option for when you want to get your Indian addiction satisfied.
They also sell their dishes outside of this location. I found some in the Math and Computer's C&D on-campus.
I have been coming here for a while.
My absolute favorite is the Friday special of Nihari. Used to be a large bowl of thick "SPICY" stew with two large pieces of tender fall apart beef, served with biryani rice on the side. They have changed it to a plate with the rice and stew together. I do prefer the bowl as it was a larger serving and you can mix how you want. But I will still go and order...

The dishes are very consistent and filling. I'm actually not a good judge of Indian food, but when I do have that odd craving this sure hits the spot. I usually get the butter chicken with naan for $11, It will last me the entire day.
3/5 because they burnt my tandoori chicken, and my naan before.
When it first opened in University Plaza I would have given Aunty's 5 stars. The staff was friendly, they had speedy service, the food was flavourful and they gave large portions. Everything a customer could ask for.
I took one star off because after the renovation they increased the price by a dollar or two and decreased the portions. But recently, I found portions has increased back a...

I gave it a 4, but I really think this place deserves 3.5
When I had aunty's when it first opened I thought it was the best thing ever. The fusion was my first dish and it was perfect. Right amount of spice and flavour. However, after they renovated I felt the flavour went down. The fusion is now a hit or miss, however the briyani is still good and can last two meals. Not a lot of space to...

I literally cannot count how many times I've been here. The portions are huuge, so you get what you pay for. The butter chicken is the best item, and their daily specials are pretty good too. I'd stay away from the wraps though. All of my friends that I've brought here are hooked.
This is the best Indian place on University Road by default. Come and have a taste when you can.
Maybe not super authentic but it sure is tasty. The butter chicken is my favourite but I would recommend the fish curry as well. The sides are always good, the salad and fries are decent and I'm not even a big fan of rice but I love the rice here. Dinner combos are absolutely huge (and a decent price), but they offer smaller side versions of their dishes if you aren't hungry enough for such a... more
Been here a few times and their portions definitely fill me up. Personally, I find the the biryani pretty spicy, but you can ask them to mix it with some plain rice which helps. The naan and butter chicken are really good and full of flavour. Really top notch.
The only thing I wish is that they make their portions a bit smaller (and a bit cheaper); all of their dinner plates are around $10.50,...

This is a tiny little restaurant in the University Plaza. Awesome location to attract the student crowd. Maybe I shouldn't call this a restaurant because it is really very similar to fast food places where you serve yourself. They have a wall covered in QR codes, which gives it a pretty modern (more like geeky) appearance.
The service is fast and efficient. It is not like a typical...

It was fine before, but recently they reduced the meat portion and instead they added lots on onions and garlic and tomato!
The shawarma plate is mostly filled with onions (fresh and stir fried).
I used to go there couple of times a week, but I don't go there anymore.
These guys have really stepped up their game since the recent renovation. The place seems cleaner and my previous complaints about speed of service have been addressed now that the kitchen and serving counter are not separated by a wall anymore. There also seems to be a lot more staff.
The menu is more or less the same which isn't a bad thing. I come here when I get bored of the Chinese food...

Great place to eat ! With the new renovations the place looks a lot more cleaner and neat. I usually get the fusion which is simply amazing and sometimes the chicken biryani. I also recommended trying out their poutine!
The customer service was sub-par the few times I have ate here. Whilst the employee was taking my order he was also talking on his blue-tooth headset and made me repeat my order multiple times, which I find unacceptable. Also as other reviews have mentioned the speed is very slow even when the restaurant is not busy. If you order anything they to specially make, that is NOT the pre-made rice,... more
Its a nice little place at the university plaza. The venue is not great but the portion sizes and price makes up for it. The employees are friendly and will get you a meal the way you like it. The food quality is mediocre, its ok but nothing special. Depending on what time you go, the food might not look that fresh. Good for a take away but not for a date.
Hard to say since there are always new things opening in the plaza, but I think Aunty's is the best restaurant by a long shot. A meal here is a bit pricey, but you get about two full servings worth if you're willing to restrain yourself and take a doggie-bag.
The service is always very slow - don't come if you're in a rush. Also, given that this place is a bit small inside and also very...

I went into this place yesterday and ordered a karahi chicken. While the ambience was good and the portions enormous for the low price, I have to say that the food itself was quite terrible. The curry in the chicken was vinegary and the salad didn't seem fresh.
However, I am Indian and I am picky about Indian food and you really can't expect too much at this price. I haven't tried the biryani...

Awesome indian food/hakka. Serving size is generous and the food is great. Very popular at lunch time.
The one problem would be how you feel after eating. I felt very heavy and tired after likely due to the amount of oil they use.
Aunty's Cafe used to be Aunty's kitchen down on king street.
Aunty's Cafe is a great place to get some fairly authentic Pakistani food. The owners and employees are polite and help you figure out the menu. Many of the food items take a little while to be served because they are cooked to order. Other things that are ready made will be served immediately. The restaurant has 4 to 5 tables with...

My face turned red from the spicy, in a good way.
Nicely garnished dishes & prompt to arrive.
Aunty's Kitchen provides tasty, budget-conscious South-Asian food in a quick-service restaurant environment.
My friends at Westmount Signs recommended I come here to try out this new restaurant, opened only since December, and I was not disappointed. The food was very flavourful and spicy and I was pleasantly surprised by the large portion size for a $6.99 Chicken Karahi. They also have a...
