Award winning Bed and Breakfast located in downtown Ottawa in the heritage area of Sandy Hill
J'ai eu une très bonne expérience .Le personnel est gentil.
Super Pres du parlement Pres du MBA Rue tranquille. Stationnement fds meme ds la rue
I would definitely stay here again! Staff were friendly and helpful and the old house was incredibly beautiful. Great location, close to downtown, Parliment buildings, Rideau Canal and Byward Market
Abbiamo molto apprezzato la notte passata in questa casa, il salotto che racconta la storia della famiglia McGee dalla metà dell''800. Unico neo, il bagno appena fuori dalla nostra stanza, ma cmq di nostro uso esclusivo
The employees were super kind, rooms were super clean, breakfast were amazing, and amazing location. Jus lil expensive.
Lovely bed and breakfast. Room was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. Family-run B&B made you feel right at home and welcome. Breakfasts were perfectly cooked and beautifully served in the Victorian-era sitting room and dining room. Location is very close to the University of Ottawa, downtown business section, Parliament, Rideau Centre with its shops and restaurants and many other sights.
perfect place for an overnight business stay. Warm, welcoming and well-run
I stayed at this B&B in 2004 whilst in Ottawa for a night and really enjoyed my stay. The owners were friendly, helpful and accomodating. Rooms each had their unique charm. They have a great jacuzzi suite, which I could recommend for a romantic getaway. The breakfast was well-prepared and included many options, which were all delicious. Rooms were all clean, charming and beds were comfortable.... more
My daughter and I stayed here for two nights and were very comfortable. We had a suite where we had our own little private corners and our own tvs! We walked to and saw the House of Parlament and Canada Gallery. The folks at the Mcgee make it and easy place to come and go from. I think the breakfast... more
I stayed in room 22, and absolutely enjoyed my time. The space was clean and comfortable, and I felt like everything was decorated just like the doll house of my childhood dreams.
Located within walking distance of downtown and the Parliament buildings, McGee's was the perfect place to finish off my trip to Ottawa.
The owners provided lovely coffees and...

We stayed for two nights in room 18 which came with a private large balcony. The room was not overly large but decorated well and in keeping with this historic Victorian home. We treated ourselves to breakfast in our room one morning and had our breakfast-in-bed trays brought uup with a wonderful filling breakfast. The location is central and a... more
I attended this bed and breakfast in early February and there's a few things I noticed about the hosts prior to even arriving. Firstly, they are unorganized. I booked my room through bed and breakfast.com several days prior but never got a confirmation. When I emailed the owners to clarify the details of the room, I did not get a... more
Had a splendid two night stay with my daughter. Loved the staff and owners. Great location near Bytowne with it's great selection of restaurants. We were also able to walk to the National Gallery and House of Parlement. Good coffee and a broad selection of breakfast items and choices. I will stay there on my next visit to Ottawa.
This place was absolutely fantastic. We were greeted by Jason, who was friendly and welcoming. He showed us to the room with the outside entrance, and it was awesome. Nice big clean room with comfy furniture and bed. Decorated very modernly. There was a fireplace thing, not a wood burning one, and it gave the room a really nice cozy... more
We stayed there over Canada Day yet again. I can't say enough good things. The room was fantastic, the Inn is very close to Parliament Hill and the Market, and the food was good. They even had a band playing outside until 2am that was as good if not better than any of the bands on Parliament Hill.
I booked my stay for the wrong, day, and I called them up on the day that I booked, (the wrong day) and asked to change the date. They looked up the date I wanted to stay, and they were able to make the change, and I WAS NOT CHARGED EXTRA!!! :)
I was very happy with the room and everything was clean. The location is very close to the market, and we were able to park and walk to dinner and...

Recently stayed at the McGee Inn for 3 nights while in Ottawa for a conference. The inn was a easy 10 minute walk to the conference centre, which was a lovely way to start and end the day.
I paid half as much for my room and breakfast as many of my conference colleagues paid for their rooms along... terrific...

Gracious hosts and excellent staff. Breakfast was great (the wonderful young ladies can take your order in English or French). Interesting a nicely decorated historic inn. Easy walk to the Byward market (tons of shops and restaurants) and the Parliament area.
Did not understand when I booked that this room was apart from the Inn only that it had a separate entrance. Missed out on all the charm of this historical building as it was raining the night we stayed and didn't feel like going outside to go into the common area of the Inn. This room is decorated in a... more
We stayed in the John McGee room and loved the myriad of nick nacks (like Old Camera's and designer plates, etc..) that are not only located in the room but throughout the B&B. This would appear to us to be a sign of a very caring owner who likes the B&B to look like a home and not just your... more
Beautiful property, about a 30 minute walk for us from Parliament, but you pass the Byward market and downtown on the way. Excellent breakfast service with delicious hot choices. Daytime staff is not very attentive or knowledgeable about tourist questions. No restaurants in the immediate area. Parking lot.
For the visitor to Ottawa who prefers to stay in B&Bs, centrally located McGee’s Inn has to be first choice. This charming three story Victorian building (try to get room 24 which has recently been remodeled and has its own private entrance) has the touches everywhere of a collector owner (including many old cameras, rotary telephones and a player piano)... more
I had read the reviews and had enthusiastically booked a room, especially since I was given a discount by the owner seeing that I was staying 2 weeks. Just before going, I looked again at the reviews and got a bit scared by some, especially since I was staying in room 23, which was said to be unpleasant near the... more
We stayed at the Auberge McGees Inn at 185 Daly Ave. in Ottawa last month hoping for a romantic getaway but we were not impressed for the following reasons:
1). The Room we were in (#19) has no ventilation whatsoever in the bathroom. All bathrooms in Ontario are supposed to be properly ventilated with an exhaust fan (by Law). When...

Our group of 6 stayed for 2 nights in rooms 17 and 18, which suited us perfectly. Room 18 has a great private balcony which was perfect to unwind with a bottle of wine after plenty of walking around the city and bike riding along the canal. Stayed in Room #24, very nice room with it's own private entrance. Nicely decorated, comfortable bed and a very nice ensuite bathroom (shower only). Breakfast was very good with excelent variety and choice. All this and withing walking distance of the Market, Parliament Hill, Elgin St. and Museums, and oh did I mention free parking!
Stayed here for two nights in June. Booking in was very easy. The room was absolutely lovely with all a girl could need for a few nights on the road. The personal touches in a ladies view where all you needed. The lounge/dining room has some lovely antiques, I even found the Balloon Lady which was the same as the... more

We were stayed at McGee's during a visit to the university. It's a very comfortable B&B in a great location for seeing the market, the university, Rideau centre and the canal, all within walking distance. We stayed in Room 18. The room was very clean and comfortable. We walked to Byward Market, Parliament, Dinner, etc. Our room had... more
We stayed in the Victorian Roses Suite, complete with large jacuzzi tub, fireplace & very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, parking is free & a short walk to downtown Ottawa. Very friendly service; we will certainly return.
My wife and I are on our way home from two wonderful nights at the McGee's Inn. We had an amazing time staying in the Victorian Roses Suite, which featured an in room fireplace with complimentary firelogs nightly, and a massive jacuzzi tub. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the free breakfasts were of a top notch... more
This is a very nice bed and breakfast. The room was clean, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Close to downtown, and on a quiet street. Would stay here again!
McGee's is a B&B a couple of blocks from the Byward neighborhood. It's a nicely furnished old house with FREE PARKING, located in a residential area. There's a nice sitting area out front with a garden and fountain, a computer so you can check in for your flight or find a great restaurant. My room was well furnished, with a... more
Right from the minute I walked in, it was terrible! No one around to meet and greet, felt like I was a bother to the employees and owner. No hello, welcome, smiles or common pleasantries. Very snobbish attitudes. As soon as I saw someone, I was asked to change my room and that the room I was to be transferred... more
The McGee's Inn is in walking distance from downtown Ottawa. It is in a very beautiful, well maintained old building in a quiet street. Our room was very nice, and so were the owners. Breakfast was excellent, and one could spend the whole day in this nicely decorated house. The only drawback is the fact that one cannot really open... more
very nice and clean, good location, little bit overpriced, you can easily find a very good hotel for this money, but for B&B lovers – it’s a nice place. Lots of parking, 10 min walking to main attractions. Full and very delicious breakfast, cooked by your order.
make sure you don't take small kids ;-)
I stayed for one night (in August) since it was close to my apartment, which I had just moved out. I needed a place within walking distance and had good and decent reviews. I did research the inn on Tripadvisor beforehand and thought this inn suited my needs. Registration online was easy and response time was quick. I even got... more
In October of 2010 I was on business in Ottawa and stayed at McGee's. My husband, daughter, and my mother were also along for the trip. This is a very established downtown B & B. It's owners are very professional and run the place almost like a hotel. Breakfast is served in a dining room with lots of tables and tourists from around the world. There seems to be a small contingent of business travellers like myself. The rooms are clean and comfortable. McGee's Inn is... more
McGee's is a beautiful big bed and breakfast with lush accommodations. Our room was lovely and we had a screened in porch as well. Breakfast was delicious with Eggs Benedict and crepes and omelets. We have stayed at McGees Inn for a weekend in February every year since 2006. Ottawa has become our second home and McGees Inn too. The Armstrongs are gracious hosts. Our home away from home! We visit Mcgees each and every year and are never dissapointed ... only when it comes time to leave.
Comfy, clean rooms, great decor, attention to every detail! Food outstanding.
Look forward to returning!
Great Victorian house with beautiful antiques, wonderful rooms, comfortable beds, & ensuite bathroom. We even had our own balcony. Judy's breakfasts were amazing (eggs benedict, goat cheese & sun-dried tomato omelette, cream cheese & blueberry crepes), coffee was good & strong. Staff was attentive & friendly. The whole team gave good advice regarding sightseeing. And to top it all off,... more
This delightful B&B is very well located only a 7 minute walk from downtown, with a bistro type restaurant and public transport a 3 minute walk. My partner and I stayed at McGee's Inn during our last getaway to Ottawa. The location was ideal - a five minute walk to the downtown core. We stayed in the "John McGee" room. The hard wood flooring, fireplace and antique mantel and mirror made the room so warm and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay at McGee's. I've stayed in at least 5 other Ottawa B&Bs since I travel here once/year on business. Once in Ottawa, I travel on foot, so I'm looking for a safe and convenient location. The staff was friendly, but more hands-off than most B&Bs, but I appreciated this when on a business trip. The inn itself from the outside looks like Norman Bates house .. and there is not adequate parking for the number of rooms ... we ended up parking on the street a block away.

We had a nice stay at McGee's. We arrived very early, but were treated to a lovely breakfast.
