Amazing find

We were told about this restaurant by the Fairmont Concierge. It was the best meal we had on our trip. Benoit was a great waiter. It was so good we came back for breakfast!

Very good meal and excellent service

Agree with most of the reviews... thanks TripAdvisor for making us aware of this great restaurant. We ordered the lamb and summer risotto (with mushrooms and seasonal vegetables). On our recent trip to La AMlabaie we stayed at the Fairmont. We decided on a dinner here based on TA. We had an amaizng meal of the Table de Hote. well prepared, fresh, flavorful food. Delicious Sunday Brunch

A cute restaurant with excellent choice showcasing local ingredients with knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Went for Sunday brunch and the menu was ample which pleased a group of 10.
We were nestled in our own private area and really felt the warmth of this property.
Food was delicious and portions were more than generous.
Delicious and fulfilling and will return!

Excellent food

We have been to Chez Truchon a couple times since my boyfriend is a huge fan of Chef Truchon. When we come to La Malbaie we always arrange to have a meal there. The food is well executed and delicious. We tell everyone to go there for a nice meal!

Went there for a family dinner while visiting La Malbaie, after a long day of hiking.
The chef surely knows how to use and put forward local produces... We tried cheeses and charcuteries to being with along with the soupe du jour (carrots and ginger). All were delicious. We ate here last night on recommendation from the Concierge at the Fairmont. She told us it is one of the favorite of the hotel guests.
She is so right.

Worth the trip

On its face, as you walk up to the restaurant, you might wonder what you are doing here at this little unassuming Auberge. Don't worry. You are in the right place. The food is excellent.
We were inside though outside on the porch would have been nice too.

We had our best dinner in Quebec at this restaurant. The location is elegant and fine. The service is excellent, but the best thing is without any doubt the food. We had dinner inside the restaurant, beautiful settings throughout , also offering terrace garden sitting. The menu was very appealing with varieties and local flavor. The "boeuf braise" and "pork tenderloin" were excellent choices and food was very tasty. good selection of wine , excellent dessert list especially the "pouding chomeur a la creme d'Erable"

We had a lovely meal here. Excellent food and good service. We didn't take the table d'hote, which seemed a bit expensive. Try to get a table on the porch if the weather is good - much nicer than inside.

We had dinner on their garden terrace, with a bit of view of the St. Lawrence. Meal and service were great, we did not go for their CAD 54 menue offer but ate a la carte. Wonderful service and food

We had a very relaxing meal here and the food was terrific! We really appreciated the attention our waiter gave us and how well our meal was spaced out so we could enjoy some down time. The prices were reasonable considering the high quality.

Very good meal

We had a very nice meal here. Our entrees took forever but they offered us free wine as an apology. The blood sausage was unlike any we've ever tasted - quite interesting, very subtle and delicious.

We ate at this restaurant twice during our trip, once for supper & once for breakfast.
On both occaisons, both the food (presentation & taste) was excellent as well as the very pleasant service. We would definitely recommend this restaurant & we would return again!

Chez Truchon was a lifesaver after two very poor experiences in La Malbaie. We sat on the veranda, which was very pleasant. The food was good and well presented and the service was excellent

So much better than Patriarche

We had a very excellent lunch one day and went back for dinner the following week with our daughter to celebrate her birthday. The food was outstanding, the waitress was quite willing to work with us by speaking English and the food choices were not only delicious but locally sourced.

We had an excellent meal here. Unfortunately, the service was rather slow, but this seemed to be at our table only. Not sure why... The manager offered us our bottle of wine at no charge and was very apologetic.

The food was delicious. The dishes we ordered featured ingredients (the goat meat in the home-made pate, the cheese, veal, and duck breast) from the Charlevoix region. The atmosphere was also very charming and calm with great music playing in the background. Our server was very friendly and attentive.

Lovely dining experience from a superb chef- the home is lovely and private- we enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu featuring local produce, cheeses and fine meats from the Charlevoix region.

If you have kids- it's more appropriate for the 8+ crowd- there is a sitting room in the back where kids can play chess (or play on their own iPads)

Excellent table in a magnificient and warm old hosuse in La Malbaie

Great dinner with an exceptionnal Table d'hôte. The Foie Gras was exceptionnel, the tartare was great and dessserts were exceptionnal all around.
We hate in front of a beautiful fireplace. Service was exceptionnal and very attentionate for the entire family. Truly worth the detour.

Great Auberge in La Malbaie

We very much enjoyed our stay at this Auberge. Friendly staff and beautiful room. Conveniently located near the Charlevoix Casino and a few good restaurants. The room was very spacious. Some small repairs (loose tiles on the floor) would be needed to the bathroom floor but that was not a major issue.

My daughter and I had two wonderful dinners at Chez Truchon. Great food, attentive service. Only draw back was the raspberry pie - the raspberries deserved a much better pie crust. Would go back in a heart beat: lots more on the menu we would like to try. A la prochaine!

The food and the atmosphere, and the service was excellent, but we had to wait quite a while to be serve. This is the only drawback.

If your looking for an authentic dining experience in La Malbaie, look no further. Simply put, the service, food, and even the tap water, are all top notch. Couple this with being in beautiful Charlevoix, and you have a perfect recipe for a wonderful and memorable evening. 10 out of 10!

A very nice meal

Very nice restuarant, my wife particularly enjoyed the duck. Good service and fair value. The surroundings were particularly comfortable (tables well spaced with comfortable seating).

A winner

The first couse was a 'tarte au salmon fume' which was a wonderfully light, but flavourful dish. Other than the very light crust (more like a mille feuille), the key was the addition of Le Cendrillon (a local aged goat cheese covered in ash) go on top.
