We were told about this restaurant by the Fairmont Concierge. It was the best meal we had on our trip. Benoit was a great waiter. It was so good we came back for breakfast!
I had been looking forward to my Charlevoix dream...diner followed by a performance at Domain Forget...for 6 months...I was delighted by my choice of Chez Truchon... For diner ...and the performance by iMusici was great...
I sat on the balcony in comfort, the service was top notch, the meal from the amuse bouche, the entree...( I chose 2 in lieu...

This restaurant came highly recommended from everyone we spoke to and they were not wrong. It was wonderful and the food was just perfect. The courses came out of the kitchen in a timely manner, the presentation was beautiful, wait staff (Mary Christine) was friendly and a joy to talk to, the wine was very nice and the food was... plus
Agree with most of the reviews... thanks TripAdvisor for making us aware of this great restaurant. We ordered the lamb and summer risotto (with mushrooms and seasonal vegetables). The lamb was nicely cooked and very good and the risotto was excellent. Also had the Argentinean red available by the glass which was robust and reasonably priced. Our waiter (Paul D)... plus
While staying at the Fairmont Manoir Richelieu, we requested some dining recommendations from the Concierge. She gave us three to choose from, but when I asked what was HER favorite, she answered Chez Truchon without a hesitation. We were THRILLED with her recommendation. The service was a casual pace ( do not expect fast!!!!) with excellent recommendations. In the end,... plus
On our recent trip to La AMlabaie we stayed at the Fairmont. We decided on a dinner here based on TA. We had an amaizng meal of the Table de Hote. well prepared, fresh, flavorful food. They best french fires I ever had.... even better the Paris. Cooking in duck fat seems to be an amazing trick...worth the calories for... plus
A cute restaurant with excellent choice showcasing local ingredients with knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Went for Sunday brunch and the menu was ample which pleased a group of 10.
We were nestled in our own private area and really felt the warmth of this property.
Food was delicious and portions were more than generous.
Delicious and fulfilling and will return!
We have been to Chez Truchon a couple times since my boyfriend is a huge fan of Chef Truchon. When we come to La Malbaie we always arrange to have a meal there. The food is well executed and delicious. We tell everyone to go there for a nice meal!
Nous allons manger Chez Truchon à chaque fois que nous...

Went there for a family dinner while visiting La Malbaie, after a long day of hiking.
The chef surely knows how to use and put forward local produces... We tried cheeses and charcuteries to being with along with the soupe du jour (carrots and ginger). All were delicious. We continued with the chef suggestion (deer) and the duck magret. The duck was accompanied with a yuzu and chocolate sauce...

My husband and I stayed a night in Charlevoix at a delightful B & B (Maison du Four Bouchard) in Charleboix on Sept 27. We visited a local art gallery at 265 Boul. de Comporte and they recommended this restaurant . It is in a charming old home. The service, quality and food presentation was superb. Highly recommend the short... plus
We dined there after a disappointing dinner at the most expensive restaurant in the area. The food was superb with good service at half the price of the dinner the night before.
We highly recommend this restaurant.
lovely old building with a well set dining room.friendly yet somewhat funky service.a well priced wine list selected with care.updated presentations of classic french food.al a carte is a nice option, although the table d'hote provides good value.
Finally found another excellent restaurant in Charlevoix (after Vices Versa, my first ranking). Beautiful house. Great service by Paul even on a Labor Day weekend with a full house. Great mise-en-bouche from the chef. Entrées are great with many in house home mades such as the rillettes, terrine, confit d'oignons and dried blueberries jam. If you go for the foie... plus
We got there early on a Saturday night, we started with amuse Bouche that was greatly appreciated, the main dishes were short beef rib & contre filet that was perfectly cook and seasoned, but most of all Marie- Christina made our night memorable, she wrote Bonne 20 ans anniversery with the blueberry & rasberry pie home made, that us very... plus
We ate here last night on recommendation from the Concierge at the Fairmont. She told us it is one of the favorite of the hotel guests.
She is so right.
Everything is very good about this
Restaurant. Food, wine, location, service and Value are all at least 5 stars.
It was so good we are going back
there tonight.
On its face, as you walk up to the restaurant, you might wonder what you are doing here at this little unassuming Auberge. Don't worry. You are in the right place. The food is excellent.
We were inside though outside on the porch would have been nice too.
The menu is not particularly expensive, but there is something for everyone....

We had our best dinner in Quebec at this restaurant. The location is elegant and fine. The service is excellent, but the best thing is without any doubt the food. I had the best duck I had ever eaten. I think the chef is great as he is able to obtain the best from the ingredients he uses. Somethimes French... plus
We had dinner inside the restaurant, beautiful settings throughout , also offering terrace garden sitting. The menu was very appealing with varieties and local flavor. The "boeuf braise" and "pork tenderloin" were excellent choices and food was very tasty. good selection of wine , excellent dessert list especially the "pouding chomeur a la creme d'Erable"
It was a real treat.....

We had a lovely meal here. Excellent food and good service. We didn't take the table d'hote, which seemed a bit expensive. Try to get a table on the porch if the weather is good - much nicer than inside.
We had dinner on their garden terrace, with a bit of view of the St. Lawrence. Meal and service were great, we did not go for their CAD 54 menue offer but ate a la carte. Can really recommend foie gras as well as their beef, including the fries backed in duck fat. We had a berry pie as dessert... plus
We had a very relaxing meal here and the food was terrific! We really appreciated the attention our waiter gave us and how well our meal was spaced out so we could enjoy some down time. The prices were reasonable considering the high quality.
We had a very nice meal here. Our entrees took forever but they offered us free wine as an apology. The blood sausage was unlike any we've ever tasted - quite interesting, very subtle and delicious.
We ate at this restaurant twice during our trip, once for supper & once for breakfast.
On both occaisons, both the food (presentation & taste) was excellent as well as the very pleasant service. We would definitely recommend this restaurant & we would return again!
We were staying at the Fairmount down the street and felt like going out to try a local restaurant. The concierge desk at the hotel recommended this restaurant which we were able to walk to for dinner. It is about 15 minutes away on foot but not too bad to walk. It looks like a popular spot, all the tables... plus
Chez Truchon was a lifesaver after two very poor experiences in La Malbaie. We sat on the veranda, which was very pleasant. The food was good and well presented and the service was excellent
We had a very excellent lunch one day and went back for dinner the following week with our daughter to celebrate her birthday. The food was outstanding, the waitress was quite willing to work with us by speaking English and the food choices were not only delicious but locally sourced.
Dining al fresco on the front porch of the 'auberge' on a pleasant summer evening at a restaurant of incredible quality with a waitstaff highly skilled and congenial made a memorable summer evening. We enjoyed the table d'hotel for $54 each. We began with a choice of appetizers. I chose the potato waffle with house smoked salmon topped with diced tomatoes,... plus
We had an excellent meal here. Unfortunately, the service was rather slow, but this seemed to be at our table only. Not sure why... The manager offered us our bottle of wine at no charge and was very apologetic.
The food was delicious. The dishes we ordered featured ingredients (the goat meat in the home-made pate, the cheese, veal, and duck breast) from the Charlevoix region. The atmosphere was also very charming and calm with great music playing in the background. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
Congratulations for Dominique Truchon and all the staff! Wonderful food with local ingredients with a good price. The waitresses are very kind !
Lovely dining experience from a superb chef- the home is lovely and private- we enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu featuring local produce, cheeses and fine meats from the Charlevoix region.
If you have kids- it's more appropriate for the 8+ crowd- there is a sitting room in the back where kids can play chess (or play on their own iPads)
Great dinner with an exceptionnal Table d'hôte. The Foie Gras was exceptionnel, the tartare was great and dessserts were exceptionnal all around.
We hate in front of a beautiful fireplace. Service was exceptionnal and very attentionate for the entire family. Truly worth the detour.
Gourmet food , presentation and taste superb! Sara the waitress was very helpful and she sure make our evening very special thank again to you Sara. Now the asssistant-Chef Jean-Christophe a yonge man was the cook on that night he really pull off a spectacular dinner ! Thanks to you both for the amazing evening we hope one day come... plus
We very much enjoyed our stay at this Auberge. Friendly staff and beautiful room. Conveniently located near the Charlevoix Casino and a few good restaurants. The room was very spacious. Some small repairs (loose tiles on the floor) would be needed to the bathroom floor but that was not a major issue.
We went to Chez Truchon for dinner. While we were tempted by the Table d'Hote, we weren't hungry enough for the 5 courses. So we chose à la carte and everything we had was really good. We started off by choosing a sample plate of charcuteries of the region, along with a 3-cheese plate, all locals. Then we followed with... plus
Great service, charming atmosphere, loved the food. My fish was slightly overdone but the fois gras was excellent. Highly recommended!
My daughter and I had two wonderful dinners at Chez Truchon. Great food, attentive service. Only draw back was the raspberry pie - the raspberries deserved a much better pie crust. Would go back in a heart beat: lots more on the menu we would like to try. A la prochaine!
We went in July for a very nice dinner with a couple of friends. The service was a bit slow at the beginning but was good after our first course. The waitress was nice and pleasant. The food is inventive with great local products. We recommend this restaurant
The food and the atmosphere, and the service was excellent, but we had to wait quite a while to be serve. This is the only drawback.
The evening started with a somewhat rude first impression from our waitress which was followed by her getting on all four to adjust a wabbly table. The menu choices are typical "table d'hote". Local meats and produce prepared in harmony with one another. I always end up with the foie gras option which always is extra. A good bottle of... plus
We had a really enjoyable dinner, very reasonably priced,(not cheap),with a very pleasant waitress and staff. food is inventive without pretense; we had halibut and pork as our entrees and both were superb. For dessert we had their pudding made with maple cream that was terrific. Highly recommend this place for a great night in Malbaie.
If your looking for an authentic dining experience in La Malbaie, look no further. Simply put, the service, food, and even the tap water, are all top notch. Couple this with being in beautiful Charlevoix, and you have a perfect recipe for a wonderful and memorable evening. 10 out of 10!
Very nice restuarant, my wife particularly enjoyed the duck. Good service and fair value. The surroundings were particularly comfortable (tables well spaced with comfortable seating).
The first couse was a 'tarte au salmon fume' which was a wonderfully light, but flavourful dish. Other than the very light crust (more like a mille feuille), the key was the addition of Le Cendrillon (a local aged goat cheese covered in ash) go on top. They also had some greens with it and the total effect was terrific.... plus
Fine food, great wine list with rare Beaujolais and smiling service.
Five stars, impeccable service, food and wine list
Excellent 5 star quality meals. Imported wine collection, from private colelction, not available at SAQ. Food is local terroir, and the chef is fromt he region. Ate here 3 out of 4 nights
very nice service from the reservation phone call through to dessert.
cozy room with a fireplace and, despite my girlfriend and I being the last in the restaurant, the meal (as well as the tables) was very well spaced

The rooms are old and questionably clean. The bedding was old. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was hot and stuffy. If I could have left at midnight I would have. We left early the next morning. The chef here clearly knows and loves food, as the meal we had was cared about and tasty. The flavors are clean, and the pairings work well together.
