We stayed for two nights in March 2014. After spending one night in Victoria which was perfectly nice, we were looking forward to escaping once again to the country. And we certainly found it with this B&B. You could not ask for a more idyllic location and the views are breathtaking. Kathy was very friendly and provided very helpful advice... more
We spent two nights at Arbutus Cove Guesthouse in mid September and could not have found a more tranquil and special place. Our very spacious room was on the lower level of the home, with the deck and incredible water views just outside our door. After a full day of exploring Botanical Beach and the Port Renfrew area, nothing was... more
Kathy Hicks, the proprietress of Arbutus Guesthouse is a very special person. We got a late start on the Galloping Goose bike trail; so arrived late. Kathy interrupted her dinner and took her time to make us welcome. She toured us around her cottage, gave us insights for our dinner plans, and introduced us to her guest enjoying the hot... more
Our stay at the Arbutus Cove Guesthouse & Cottage was perfect in every way. We rode our bikes from Victoria on the Galloping Goose bike trail and arrived in the early afternoon at the B & B. Our room was ready early and we were able to drop off our panniers to lighten our load and then continue up the... more
This is a nice place and very convenient for bikers, as it's right off the trail. Lovely view, nice deck with hot tub, spacious clean rooms with good beds. It has a big open great room with comfy couch & big chairs for a group to gather in. Our bike group stayed there 2 nights and had a wonderful time.... more
We stayed in one of the cottages. As you will see from other reviewer's photos, the location and views are breathtaking. Kathy had the hot tub ready and we could sit there under the stars on arrival. We had three nights.here as part of a travelling holiday and wished we'd stopped for longer. Lovely walks on the doorstep and nearby... more
After biking from Victoria to Sooke we arrived at Arbutus Cove Guesthouse to a wonderful reception by Kathy. She offed to drive us to the wine stor about 10 mins away for us to get wine and enjy the wonderful view from our deck overlooking Sooke Basin. It was a memorable day, wish we had booked for 2 nights so... more
Everything about this place was superlative: location, view, friendliness, cleanliness, food, and on and on. I would return in a flash. If you are going to be biking the Galloping Goose you can't get any closer to the trail and a friendly nearby bike rental operator will deliver your bikes to you and then pick them up. I have never... more
This is a wonderful place just off the Galloping Goose cycle path that comes from Victoria. We just stayed here for the second time. The B & B owner, Kathy, is very friendly and kind and did everything to make us welcome and comfortable. She strikes the right balance between friendly interaction and giving you plenty of privacy, which is... more
we booked this B&B totally on spec, and what a lovely surprise, great view, beautiful rooms and breakfasts - not much interaction with the owners but that fit in with our plans, we had a lovely hot tub, good breakfast and a handy place to pull in after a day of cycling
My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon.
We stayed in the Arbutus Cottage and it was beautiful. The deck had spectacular views, as well as a private hot tub. The cottage has warm and relaxing feeling. This cottage is actually oceanfront and is completely private, The cottage is set away from everything but very close to drive into town....

Arbutus Cove Guest Lodge was a pleasant surprise. We had been booked in by a conference organizer and we wondered about being away from the hotel in Sooke. The guest property is about 9 km from the heart of Sooke. It's down a twisty, winding road and we were beginning to wonder what we had gotten into. At the very... more
Flawless! We loved our getaway in this spectacular place. From first contact with Kathy, we enjoyed easy reservation and check-in, then when we entered the cabin were amazed at it's beauty and comfort. A hot tub on the deck, in the midst of a hail and windstorm, was incredible. The location seems a million miles away but is so accessible... more
We stayed here for 4 days over Christmas while visiting family for the holidays, and have nothing but good things to say about it.
We had cycled by in the summer while on a visit to check it out, and were impressed with the beautiful gardens, and how well kept the property seemed to be, so decided to book it...

We stayed one night. The property is nice in a quiet location. Comfortable room and a large kitchen, sitting, dining area. We had this to ourselves, but it could be a bit crowded if all the rooms were let.
The security was a bit lax. The entrance door did not want to open from the outside. However as the external...

We spent 4 very pleasant days at the secluded Dockside Cottage , the view of the oh so near and beautiful Sooke Basin exceeded our expectations.
The cottage is charming ,clean , well appointed and spacious. The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you need to make full meals and everything works.
The deck runs the full length of...

This is a large wooden lodge separate from the main house giving one complete solitude and privacy. The view was over Sooke Sound, where the seals catch fish and the wind ruffles the water. Everything changes, the colours, the clouds, the water and the wind in front of your eyes; for us it was a frozen three days of our... more
The Arbutus Cove could be great if the hosts were more hospitable. The location is lovely and the rooms comfortable, but the only exchange we had with the owner was to get our credit card info and pay the bill. This occurred the minute we arrived at the guesthouse, and evidently replaced any welcome. The owner did give us a... more
We stayed in the Arbutus Cottage for 3 nights in July and we fully recommend this place. It is self contained, with fully stocked kitchen, clean bedroom and bathroom, cozy living room and a gorgeous deck with hot tub and barbeque. The little thoughtful touches make it feel like home.
Excellent location and quiet natural beauty make this the perfect...

Best of Everything, setting, rooms, family owners, other guests, breakfast, nearby restaurants & attractions.
We stayed in the Dockside cottage for 6 nights in June. The cottage is well maintained, nicely decorated and absolutely perfectly located just on the water. We could see bald eagles, wild swans and sea otter right from the deck. River otters played under the kitchen window. The hiking/biking trail is in 20 yards from the doors. After long hikes... more
As a family group, we stayed at Arbutus Cove 2 years ago, returning this April and happy to find that it was just as we remembered - simply wonderful. The weather was not perfect, but it didn't matter as our accommodations were warming and inviting, the hosts most attentive and full of ideas of things to do in the area.... more
We stayed here for a few nights last summer and had a lovely time. They double booked the Arbutus Guesthouse so upgraded us to the Dockside at no charge. The place was immaculate and it was a lovely experience for both my husband and I.
The only issue we had was that the place is listed as a "No kids"...

The biking, the beaches, the attractions, the restaurants...it was all good! And then to retire to the home-like coziness of The Arbutus Cove Guesthouse was icing on the cake. Kathy's breakfasts are generous and nutritious, the rooms are immaculate and comfortable, and our special requests were accomodated.
We had a great one night stay at Arbutus cove. It is right on the Galloping Goose trail so we enjoyed hiking. We even had a dip in the ocean from the private beach on the property. We loved the help yourself kitchen and the beautiful gourmet breakfast. Our one night seemed liked a mini-holiday thanks to the resort-like atmosphere... more
A group of nine cyclers, we booked this amazing place right on the Galloping Goose Trail. We cycled from Victoria and thought we would drop our paniers and continue on our bicycling tour and see more.........but we were in awe of this lovely place with it's large sunny deck overlooking the bay and decided to stay put and enjoy the... more
We really enjoyed the two nights we spent here. The B&B is in a great location with a deck looking out over the sea, and was very quiet and peaceful. It's not a traditional B&B in the sense that the rooms are completely separate from the main house, and you get your breakfast laid out on a tray in the... more
Sunshine dancing on the water, a secluded cove, barking of sea lions, sail boats in the distance, arbutus trees along the shore, sitting in the hot tub outside our bedroom door, counting the stars - what more you could ask for? Spacious, tastefully decorated rooms opening onto the deck or balcony, huge common area with TV, fireplace, comfy leather sofa... more
We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon. We wish we had arranged to spend more time in the area -- it's beautiful and natural. We can say the same for this B&B -- we wish we could have spent more time there! The house seemed new and built specifically to be a guesthouse - there was a nice... more
