Great old Victorian

Easy 2 mile walk to restaurants, shops and harbor. Breakfast was tasty but a bit slow in coming. Quiet and comfortable room. Would have been cozy to have the in-room fireplace working, but no. It's a true Victorian.

Unfortunately, there appears to be some management issues (owner is gone? the staff were very run down and overworked) but outside of that we had a very pleasant stay.

This is not a terrible b&b, but it's not a great one either. The house is very old and is filled with very old knick-knacks. The carpeting in the rooms is old. Everything is old. Staff are number one at this B & B. They are very helpful and go above and beyond what one would normally expect of a B & B. The property is charming and very well kept. Breakfast was very fresh and more than ample. I would stay at the Amethyst Inn again - 5 days was not long enough.

Wonderful experience

We had a wonderful stay, the Inn was a beautiful restoration of a 1885 mansion and was special. Our whole experience was wonderful, the room, the breakfasts, everything was perfect.

The location was ideal to get away from the in-town crowds even while being close enough to make quick trips to the Inner Harbor area. The staff's reception was friendly and helpful and continued to be attentive throughout the stay. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful! We had a lovely stay at the Amethyst! The Breakfasts were better than anything you could purchase. Staff was super friendly.

Vintage charm

Amethyst Inn is a lovely building with a great garden. The breakfast area is gorgeously decorated. Everything is consistently vintage, from cutlery to walls decor. The staff is very nice and accommodating and the breakfast is delicious.

Really nice personnel. The rating of 4 is caused by the young girl that was responsible for the breakfast. She was very friendly but did not really understand what we wanted. Very uniique experience!! A very cozy,beautifully furnishished room on the top floor...a wounderful bathroom, comfortable king sized bed and superb breakfasts. Close enough to victoria center so you could walk. Overall, a great stay.

Charming and delightful

This historical home is beautifully kept up to a high standard. The breakfast was wonderful, sumptuous, and well presented. It is in a quiet yet very convenient location. We enjoyed reading the colourful history of the home in the volume provided, and the musical accompaniment at breakfast was a bonus - the owners 9 year old son is a very proficient piano player. We shall definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay at the Amethyst Inn. Loved the antique furniture, the detailed woodwork and the building design. The breakfasts were the best we've ever had. We had to leave on an early ferry and they even packed us a breakfast to take with us. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

Ein spannendes und liebevoll eingerichtetes Hotel in britischem Stil. Dieses Hotel verbindet Stil mit Freundlichkeit und ist eine Oase in Victoria. Some staff had problems understanding some questions. Just small things, ie. { "Could I have a cup of decaffinated coffee please"? Answer .. We don't have any. It's a nice B+B. Good breakfast, nice rooms and in a nice neighborhood. But if you are interested in a conversation with the owners, go somewhere else as their English is not very good.

It was a lovely departure from a standard chain hotel. the rooms were a lovely peak in to era long gone, with all the amenities of the present. The host was lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delic! The only minor comment is you should have a car with you if staying there. Downtown Victoria is a bit away. You can take a bus, but a tad bit inconvenient.
