Hot Place to Eat

One of the best places to eat in an area full of good eateries. Very current and flavourful menu. And different from the norm. Reasonably priced.

Excellent Food and Service

Fuel is outstanding, plain and simple. The service is top notch, comparable to the high end restaurants in the luxury hotels of Toronto or Montreal. The decor is very modern with a classy feel. Visiting Fuel you'll notice that the restaurant itself isn't that large, and it's layout is spaced in a way that people are there more for an intimate dining experience rather than something with lively entertainment. Cozy and comfortable with a sense of style is their atmosphere. Their service is top notch, I simply can not find many other restaurants in Vancouver that have this type of service. More than being attentive, the servers are professional and genuine. That is very hard to come by in Vancouver's restaurant industry. The food is well beyond description. The presentation is similar to that of a culinary competition, with a brief description of everything on the plate and how it will taste. However, the brief description is nothing comparable to how your mouth reacts to the delight of your meal. The lamb is beyond description. The rib eye is beyond words. The meals are some of the best you can find anywhere in Vancouver. At Fuel the staff are there to win customers over with their professional service, immaculate ambience and delicious meals. They have won me over, and so I will be visiting them over and over again in the future.

[This report is from an outing from this past fall - it had been sitting in the incomplete queue for a while, various travels led me to leave this aside until now, apologies.]

Putting on special events is something that a restaurant can do to draw some attention to itself and cut through all the clutter of marketing hype and word-of-mouth buzz generated among regular patrons and prospective... more

Instead of suffering through last year’s economic downturn, partners Tom Doughty and 2009 Vancouver magazine Chef of the Year Rob Belcham got creative. The result is a casual reincarnation of their critically acclaimed fine-dining boîte Fuel, and a much better restaurant. Stripped down and laid-back, the industry-leading interpretations of locally sourced ingredients and strong service remain.... more

Again! Fantastic. We had the tuna salad at Hawksworth and Refuel's was 10x better. Sitting at the bar is super fun watching the magic. Love love love

I've eaten lunch at Refuel several times in the past few months with no disappointments! Everything I've tried has been excelent: fried chicken, butter lettuce ahi tuna salad and hanger steak are favourites. Also on offer, some outstanding mocktails, well worth trying. With food like this, its a wonder its so quiet there at lunch hour, really, this place is a treasure.

"""Astonishingly honest food, focussing on nose to tail butchery and local produce. Service is casual yet professional. Burger is by far the best available in the city."""

Refuel tagline boasts "honest food relaxed atmosphere" and that's exactly what you get when you dine there. You won't find fusion or exotic flavors, but will be wowed by the simplicity of the flavors and fresh ingredients. Butchery is a big part of their passion at Refuel and they make a simple burger taste impeccably perfect. They source their meat from only the best and then grind up the dry... more
