"Scammed" and Problems

During the first snowstorm of the year I had a minor to medium accident where no air bags were deployed, no damage to axile, windows, engine, and transmission. But the hood, right light, radiator and compressor were damaged.

Queensway Collision Centre offered to pay for the deductible of $1,000 but I wanted Mercedes collision centre to fix it instead. After Queensway Collision Centre offered to pay for winter tires as well, since that was partially the reason for the accident (Car slid). They convinced me.

My thoughts were the damages are nothing too difficult to fix and if they are willing to save me approximate $2000 then that sounds like a good deal.

This was far from a good deal as it took almost 2 full months to have the repairs. First two weeks were waiting for parts, which is reasonable. But another month and half for the repairs is not. I feel like I could of watch some youtube videos and done it myself in less than that time.

Fine they took their time, but at least they did a good job? Wrong. 5 minutes after I took it for a drive I got a warning telling me to check my coolant levels. I took the car back and all they did was a reset. The warning goes on and off, as told me this is due to a bubble in the coolant. They must have left a pretty big bubble for the sensors to constantly be picking this up.

Lastly my winter tires. There were no winter tires! On the day I came in to pick up my car I was told I wasn't getting any winter tires, even though our deal included them. I was told "His boss" couldn't add the tires and someone was supposed to inform me. This was their mistake and yet I did not receive anything, not even an apology. Instead I was spoken to as if it were my fault saying things along the lines of "Well you see there are lots of damages since it is front end. Almost 13 thousand dollar of damages and if you want winter tires we can't give you the deductible". This made no sense to me since the worst the damage the more money they make from it. But I realize this wasn't going anywhere and not much could of been done. Throughout the whole situation I was being reasonable and calm, not raising my voice or using inappropriate language. Yet I did show frustration.

I don't think it should of cost $13,000 for the repairs, but I'm not an expert and the breakdown of the cost was not shown. You can decide for yourself.

I assume they overcharge since it's covered by insurance. They also wanted me to rent a BMW even though I already rented a Kia from them, they said "Why not? it's covered by insurance". I didn't take the BMW as I was busy and the Kia drove fine.

So what was good? Well the body looks perfect.

Before deciding I was researching on this collision centre, but could not find any information. I wish I have seen a similar post like this one to deter me from this garage
