The Pumphouse has incredible ambience as it easily wrests somewhere between theatre and historical site. The beautiful red brick building, acoustics, and large stages enable intimate but feasible setting for plays, shows, and the like.
My only complaint is the comfortability (or lack thereof) of the seating. The chairs are not conducive to sitting for a three hour show. Most shows include...

The location of the Pumphouse Theatre is a bit off the beaten track. It is housed in a historic building in a park-like piece of land alongside the Bow River, but the surrounding area looks a bit scruffy. Parking is either on-street or on a neighbouring parking space.

There were two plays showing the night we attended...one a mainstream family hilday classic and the other an edgy political statement piece. We saw the latter and quite enjoyed it. But I will stick to the theatre in general. Negatives: Lack of parking, cash only at the concession and seating that requires you climb over one another.
Pumphouse Theatre has been in existence for many decades and has a rich cultural heritage.
