Over 200 beers - 35 draught tapsauthentic italian foodthe abbey: A showcase belgian pub
It is hard to believe the fine selection of beers they have here from around the world. As if that was not attraction enough, the decor and ambiance of this place is exceptional. Food is great, too!
Whenever I have a friend visiting from out of town, I always take them to Pub Italia for dinner. The atmosphere can't be beat. Some friends are impressed by the huge selection of international and local beers. Some (myself included) love it for its quirky ambiance. Every square inch of wall space is filled with amusing hand-painted murals or hangings or something interesting to look at. I don't know how many times I've taken someone's picture with the Adam mural on the door to the men's washroom! You can almost get lost in the rabbit warren of different cozy dining rooms, plus the bar and the outdoor patio in the good weather.
The booths are roomy and very private feeling, so you can relax and feel almost like you're at home, and the wait staff has never made us feel they wanted us to hurry along and leave.
The food is very good, though not spectacular. Some dishes are better than others. I like their pasta selection...you choose what kind of pasta you want, and then what kind of sauce you want. I've never disliked any of their pastas. Their desserts are great. Salads are good, appies are good. Sandwiches are so-so.
I go there mostly for the atmosphere. I love it and will surely be back many times.

Good fast service, decently priced
I'm vegan so I got their spinach salad without the chicken and asked for more cranberries instead of walnuts, they put way goo much dressing on the salad (but it was lemon garlic which is my favourite) and there was actually way too many cranberries my fault for saying I wanted more but it's like the spilt the bag in. Bill for 1 salad, 1 pizza and 1 beer was...

Tried it out a few times and agree they've got a wicked beer list however my overall experience wasn't great. I've probably gone a dozen times now because I live in the area and every time I try something different on the menu. The food is astonishing.. So bad I've spat it out before. I've tried the pasta and it was so blank and tasteless I couldn't bring myself to take another bite. The... more
place was a dump, everything was full of dust . food was gross and they poured my float wrong.
This is definitely a place to go for the beer selection but not for the food. As my husband loves the imported beer here I have tried the food several times only to go from mildly disappointed to I will never eat there again. As well, I have ordered wine which was corked (waitress opened several bottles with all the same problem) and a mixed drink that was obviuosly watered down. Keep the... more
Wow best selection of beers in town you can tast the world of beer sitting at one table all night
Pub Italia was quaint and well located. It had a vast selection of beer also. The ratings on this site were a little off kilter to be honest, however. The best restaurants as far as food and ambiance can be found elsewhere, to be sure. UPDATE YOUR RATINGS RESTAURANTS.CA!!!!!! revisit these restaurants!!
Here's an interesting twist on the pub. Known as Canada's first Italian pub, it opened in 1994 and has been popular ever since. Choose from 36 draught beers (over 200 beers in all), 13 by-the-glass wines and 16 brands of scotch. Enjoy a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, a pizza, or one of eight different preparations of mussels. If the weather is nice, try to snag a table on the patio.
