the spring rolls here, which i had as an appetizer and regretebly as my main course on rice with pork, were not very good. too crispy.
I have very good input on a LOT of the Vietnamese restaurants in town. Me and my friend went through a period where we toured the city's vietnamese restaurants, critiquing each. Every Saturday and Sunday, and whatever we could manage on the odd week day lunch hour. Really it was pass / fail for each restaurant, though failing doesn't mean it's terrible just that I wouldn't go back, compared to the other restaurants in town. I always order one of 5 dishes to compare each restaurant and here I've had the rare beef pho sine the front of the store says "the world's famous beef soup" or something. I'm not sure about the fame, but it was really good. Not an outwardly looking amazing restaurant, and one of many choices nearby, but very good.
The general hygenic situation has to be improved and monitored by the local government.
I work downtown and I've been here for lunch several times now. The value here is very good and I find the food to generally be quite tasty (there have been a few misses though). It's definitely a no-frills type of place but if you want a simple lunch for a low price it's usually a good choice.

I'm only a one-timer here. Ordered the Pho Tai, your normal beef noodle soup with raw meat. It was a comparatively bland broth and the meat was not piled nicely in the middle all red and raw, but rather was stirred around my soup and a bit chewy.
