One Time Visit
This downtown eatery specializes in small plates. It's a trendy scene, with open kitchen area, bar and patio. The patio, while nice, is on a busy street. The bar area suffers with some dark areas and music louder than necessary, forcing one to speak loudly to be heard. Service was iffy. The real question - what about the food. While interesting, the prices were quite high, the portions quite small and while the dishes imaginative, there weren't spectacular. Sadly, this will be a one time visit

"Oh, the variety in tastes" opine guests at chef-owner Claudio Aprile's small-plates Downtown "delight" where "outstanding" Eclectic tastes, including mozzarella and raw-bar offerings, "explode with flavour"; service gets mixed marks ("attentive" vs. "unhelpful") and tabs are "on the pricey side", but the "funky" urban-chic space has a "great vibe", so it's still a "favourite."

This place was awesome. We came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar area surrounding the (very) open kitchen. While looking at the menu we watched the kitchen staff expertly prepare plates and communicate with one another. I ordered the French toast with the duck confit …

I've always had a good experience at Origin though during peak hours i.e. evenings I can feel a bit claustrophobic due to all the commotion. Though I love the trendy vibe of it all.
