May 17, 2013Ocean Island is a traveller's hostel in downtown Victoria. The cafe/lounge is busy every night. Lots of travellers and locals. Beer by the pitcher is cheap. There is often local live music, from fiddle tunes to electric rock and roll, usually no cover charge. Always friendly atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices.

I had walked by this place several times and was excited to finally be going into what looked like a really cool little spot for late night food and drinks. Unfortunately, I wound up extremely disappointed; the staff was rude, the food took incredibly long, and our drinks order was missed without so much as an apology.
