Incompetent and dishonest

Avoid this place at all cost. My laptop fell and I needed my screen to be replaced as well as minor body work. The screen was cracked but computer was working properly with an external monitor.

The proprietor of Oakwood computers, John, assured me that my laptop can be easily fixed for $345 and it will only take 2-3 weeks (to order the parts and do the fixing). I had to put a down payment of $200, with no receipt of course.

For whatever reason it took not 2-3 weeks but almost 6 weeks. John never bothered to update me on progress or explain why it was taking so long. When I finally called him, he seemed to have forgotten about my laptop all together.

When parts were finally "received", John attempted to replace the screen but broke/ damaged an integrated graphics card on my laptop. He was feeding me lies about how he is attempting to fix the problem for 3 days. However, at the end he phoned and confirmed that my laptop is dead and requires replacement of motherboard with an integrated GPU. That would have been another $750 out of my pocket.

After I said that he effectively ruined my GPU and I do not intend to spend another $750, John suggested that I take what is left of my laptop and sell the parts to recover some of my $200 down payment. No remorse for his mistakes, no nothing. I insisted on him stripping the parts he installed (as laptop became unsalvageable thanks to his efforts) and refunding my $200.

After 40 minutes of arguments, more lying and saying that it would take him way to long to strip the parts, John said that he would refund only $150 out $200 or nothing. The reason being that he has to get some money for the time he spend on my laptop.....I have to assume all the damage....

Learn on my mistakes, stay away from this place.
