Office staff needs improving

I have seen Dr. Mulhern about 4 years back and now have an issue with an old root canal that needs repair. When making my appointment the receptionist was rude and not very customer service/patiant understanding. I have worked in General Surgery for over 6 years and I would never treat a patient like this woman treated me over the phone. I decided that maybe she was just having an off day.

When I went to my appointment, I was greated by a very nasty young girl that needs to learn some manners. She made me stand and wait while she was on the phone for at least 10 minutes. I was not impressed with that. Than I was taken back to see Dr. Mulhern. He was great, to the point and I was very pleased with his kindness. When approaching the reception desk I was again helped (if that is what you can call it) by the nasty repectionist. I was told the amount for the pointment and asked how I was going to pay for it. I was never told that the payment was not going to go to my insurance company first (Like most Doctor/Destist offices inform you before your appointment) and I did not have the money to pay for the visit. I was shocked! Than I told the respectionist that I would come back on my payday to pay for this appointment. The look I got was not very professional and I really felt threatened by this person. I was happy to get out of there once I did. I do not remember having this experience with Dr. Mulhern's office 4 years back.

3 days after this appointment and 2 days before payday, I had a followup appointment at the HSC and slipped on some ice 1 block away from there. This fall tore my hamstring and I had a huge hematoma. I could not drive or walk for some time due to this accident. On Dec 24 I received a call from Dr. Mulherns office (30 days or so after the appointment) telling me that they were going to take me to collections for the remaining amount owing (which told me that they were more than able to go through my insurance company for the claim) if I did not come in and pay the balance off by the 27th of December. That was it. I called my dentist office and told them that I would not be going to this specialist and to refer me to another. I am not going to be threaten or treated like this by anyone.

Too bad as I really like Dr. Mulhern but he really needs to improve on his respectionist/office staff. This is totally unprofessional and unexceptable.
