After starting life as a skating rink in 1884, the 2,300-capacity Métropolis is now a prime showplace for traveling rock groups, especially for bands on the way up or retracing their steps down. It has recently hosted Adele, Lauryn Hill, Prince, and Polaris Prize winner Karkwa. There's also a small attached lounge, Le Savoy.

At some point, I decided to check out the second floor of the place and it... more

Opened up once again as a porn cinema in the 70s through to the mid-80s...And then finally finally the Metropolis as we know it today. You get a good view of any live act from pretty much anywhere, the beer is cheap, easy access to the... more

This was my second visit to Metropolis, and I had a fantastic time, yet again. My first visit here was several years ago to see Jack's Mannequin and Fun preform. I was so swept up in the music, I didn't have much time to check out the venue, except I vaguely remembered a beautiful balcony, and nice lighting.

This time, I came to see Damien Rice, and I appreciated the venue a lot more, as we... more

One of the city's most popular entertainment venues, the Metropolis features entertainers from all ends of the musical spectrum. Formerly a disco, the Metropolis was renovated by Equipe Spectra to house a diverse blend of talents. See local artists such as Jean Le Loup and Bran Van or international acts like Marilyn Manson and James Brown in this well known music hall. In addition to musical... more
