Good for DZ, bad for AZ.

I did both my D and A with them. I did my Z at a different school in Barrie on a weekend course.

If you want to get your A, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! The instructors are great, but I felt the lessons were not suitable for beginner drivers. Since I had some driving experience from my DZ going in, learning how to double-clutch was not a problem. Newer drivers WILL have trouble. (Using the clutch for shifting is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of and makes driving unnecessarily more difficult, though Ontario is to blame for this and not Metro...) The use of logbooks, CVORs and other documentation/licensing is never covered.

If you want a D license, I would recommend them only because the test is in a school bus (automatic as opposed to manual), they have a good passing rate and the instructor Susie is amazing!! She is dedicated to helping people pass and how to be confident on the road as opposed to viewing students as cash cows.

Good luck trying to get a hold of anyone if you have to cancel lessons. The office technology is stuck in the dark ages in terms of managing their students or lessons. I once had an instructor miss my lesson entirely because the office never informed him. I also requested an earlier lesson time but was told none were available; when I show up it turns out I am the first student of the day so how could a lesson have NOT been available? I guess they didn’t want to pay an instructor to wait around after my lesson for their next booked student, which shows their willingness to help customers. They have no email access except for one day of the week when some guy comes in with a key for the computer room... yes that is what they told me. Seriously?! How about admit you %#$*ed up instead of lying to me.

If you miss a lesson but were unable to reach them due to the shenanigans mentioned above, they will make you purchase another lesson, the cost of which is $55 for 45 minutes multiplied by 2 since they only sell lessons in 1.5 hour blocks. They will not book your A road test until you purchase and complete the lessons. My sister had this problem and the man on the phone was flat-out rude and told her "in plain English" that she had to pay for more lessons if she wanted her road test booked.
- never mind she had paid the full package price in advance including test fees
- never mind the MTO will never see Metro’s evaluation sheet nor do they give a &$^%
- never mind Metro’s instructors will grade you a 3 out of 9 on your first lessons even if you’re a pro, then grade you a 9 out of 9 on your last lessons to make it look like you’ve improved regardless of actual performance
- never mind she had already wasted time trying to fax her evaluation sheet to them since they don’t have email 6 days of the week, and needed this test booked ASAP since she was leaving Ontario in a month
- never mind she was rudely shut down on the phone and told to wait until next week (it was Monday when she called...) when the rep who handled her contract was back in the office from vacation

Overall Metro has cheaper packages than other schools but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR; awful office staff, a poorly managed company and the feeling you are nothing but an ATM for them.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
