Dentists can charge what ever they want, this one makes no apologizes. In the office, you don't get what you pay for.
Not recommended!
I went to this dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction. When I came in, I was told that the procedure would be relatively straight forward and I was given a price quote.
My appointment was for 2pm but I sat in an empty room from 2:15pm to 3pm. When Dr. Pantazi finally arrived he was yelling at his assistant while stabbing my mouth with the freezing needle. Once the procedure began his bantering continued as he began cracking my teeth and jamming his instruments inside my mouth.
While I was told the procedure would be straightforward, I ended up being in the chair for about 3 hours. It was so long that Dr. Pantazi ended up taking a coffee break mid-way through. He was also sure to mention how much he wanted to be going home the whole time I was in the chair - very reassuring!
When the procedure was finally finished, I came to the front desk where they informed me that they has misquoted my price and it was actually about $50 more per tooth. I suspect they did this because it took so long and they knew I had no use of mouth to argue with them.
Post procedure care was ok but they tried to send me home with just some Advil. I had to insist on proper pain medication and the doctor eventually wrote me a prescription.
The story concludes with me booking an appointment to get a regular dental check up a month or so later. My appointment was scheduled but I had to travel to the US unexpectedly and since I was out of country, I wrote an email (using the email address they told me I could use and list on their website) informing them of my situation and that I wanted to reschedule. Of course, they did not check their email and proceeded to keep calling me at my Canadian phone number for confirmation. When I received the messages finally, I was prepared to pay the $50 missed appointment fee until I received this reply on my email from Dr. Pantazi himself:
“hi ________, as far as i remember, we called you, not e-mailed you, so common courtesy is to call us back not e-mail, that's like after you e-mail us i'll reply to you by snail mail...so please keep your blackberry for texting and replying messages sent to you in the same form...and , by the way, looking for a new dentist!
Dr Alan Pantazi”
Totally class-less and unprofessional. I’m looking for that new dentist and so should you! NOT RECOMMENDED!
