I'm sure it is the only 60's feel Chinese restaurant left in town. They are going to close forever after April 2014. I know they have been around for a long time and never try until i heard the news. Lido is by no means an authentic Chinese restaurant. Head down to Chinatown if that's what you are looking for. That said, Lido offers tasty "fake" Chinese food for non-Chinese like ginger beef, egg foo yung, fried rice, sweet and sour pork (this is actually a legitimate Chinese dish), etc. It is a fun place to experience the history of Kensington.
Ate here just to say I did before it gets torn down. Calgary institution, has been around forever and has never changed. Relatively cheap- but greasy, kind of gross, and not well prepared. Service is good though. It is what it is- it does have a certain charm to it.
