A unique gallery-bar-resto-concert venue, this multiroom, multilevel address is the spot in St-Roch to go to for drinks, tapas, and good music -- especially if you've tired of the see-and-be-seen vibe on nearby rue du Parvis. A hubbub of creative minds, they even have their own magazine that you can download online (click on the link at the top of their website).

Le Cercle started as a modish tapas and wine bar with live music and art happenings, kid sister to an adjacent restaurant, the esteemed Utopie. When Utopie shut down in 2009, Le Cercle started edging into its space, and now it has performance on one side, and food and drink on the other. We had sardines and a seafood lasagne. Having spent the prior week on the Gaspe peninsula, we were spoiled with fresh seafood

The service was great, our waitress was patient as I stumbled through the little French I know. The Québécois cider and rosé were delicious. For starters we got the duck legs and local cheese plate. They both really hit the spot as we were starving... more

The food is a bit pricey but the drinks are pretty good. This is a very cool, hip place to be. We had the salmon tartare which was a bit pricey but stick to the drinks only here.

Le Cercle is undeniably the best when it comes to hosting art events, for it does so with taste and panache. Primarily an eat, drink and entertainment space; it also aids in promoting art through its galleries. Apart from this, the venue hosts concerts and presents upcoming and local musicians alike who fill the air with intoxicating tunes. Hence, an evening here is full of revelry. The... more
