Francophiles in search of a "very French" experience find it at this "cosy" Gastown bistro where "well-presented" dishes off the "old-school" menu satisfy; "charming" decor lends a "quaint" feel.
Jules is one of those places that is hard not to like, unless you catch the service on an off-day. Like Salt, this casual French bistro is part of a mini-renaissance putting new life into Gastown. Emmanuel Joinville’s remarkable little spot in Gastown hits all the right notes, conjuring hearty, unpretentious French bistro fare in a roowm transported straight from Le Marais. We had a Saturday evening reservation for two at 8:30 pm. Our table wasn't ready so we lingered at the bar and decided on our wine while waiting. Cool little spot in Gastown. Very attentive and friendly service. Most importantly, the food was top notch. Recommend the duck and mussels with coconut sauce. More food than we could eat =) Two entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine came to approx. $120
We came to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. It is a small room with warm, intimate atmosphere and wonderful hosts in Manuel and Micheal.
