JD Turgeon A Con Artist that engages in Fraud

My nightmare began just about a year ago to the tune of $2500 for work that was never done. And yes, Wes supplied the same cover stories: Jack is in the hospital with chest pain and high blood pressure; his wife is dying of cancer; he is going through a messy divorce and then the one from Jack himself that he lost a lot of money in the decline of the stock market.

Promises of delivery and completion of the work went on and on but never materialized. I retrieved the chair in its unreparied but re-assembled state from the shop myself one Saturday morning.

I sued him in Small Claims Court and was awarded a judgement against him~ big deal ~ he doesn't pay! He has missed two payments already and is not returning phone calls.

My next step is to return to the courts for futher action. I have sued him as an individual not as the business as I think he can close the doors pretty quickly without much notice. I have no intention of letting this go unitl all monies are repaid. I will follow him to his grave and take from his estate

I am generally a good judge of character but man did this crook pull the wool over my eyes with this one. This man is a schister! Stay clear of Jack and his so called business which isn't even worthy of one star.

Owner, Jack Turgeon, took $900 and did no work on my furniture.

I retrieved my furniture, unrepaired, and not upholstered, sent a registered letter warning him to return our $900 or I would file for court and charge the costs to him. The matter is not yet settled since court action takes some time.AVOID this place!

I have won a judgement in Small Claims Court that this company must refund all my money plus court costs and interest. He has 19 claims either against him personally or his business at Small Claims Court. Those with grievances neeed to send registered mail to him demanding their money by a particular date, and when he doesn't comply, file for a hearing which holds him in contempt of court. A reasonable outcome is he goes to jail for a few days, and if he doesn't resolve his financial disputes, he is shut down. Right now he laughs every day he has your money and no one pushes the limits to take decisive action. Also go to the Ministry of Ontario website, go into the Ministry of Consumer Services link, and file a complaint with all the documentation that is asked for. Mine makes the 4th unresolved/unanswered complaint with this Ministry; now they will have to act. Lastly, contact the Ottawa police to undertake an investigation if you have won a court judgement against him. There are 2 there ahead of you. The pattern of his behaviour once collectively exposed cannot be ignored by authorities. If it is, contact the Citizen for an interesting story about Consumer Protection in Ontario. Also the Better Business Bureau has 28 outstandingcomplaints in 36 months against him. Contact me if you wish at coldon12@rogers.com.

Took my money and ruined my furniture

He cashed my $1500 deposit check at Money Mart, and the only work he did on my furniture was to remove 400 brass nails from my furniture and several of my foam cushions, I suspect he used these items on some other furniture. After 6 months, I had to go and pick up my furniture. They were all broken and damaged.

I took him to the small claims court and he never bothered showing up for trial, so I got default judgement.

By the number of complaints posted here, and his record with the BBB, it seem that Jack Turgeon has been at this game of "take the money and run" for a while. He cashes the cheques he gets from his customers at Money Mart, thinking that Revenue Canada cannot trace him. When it's time to deliver the furniture, his worker, Wes, will call and say Jack is in the hospital due to chest pain or heart attack, or Jack's wife is under going cancer treatment, etc. So, you feel sorry for the guy. Eventually you find out this is the game they play on the customers.

See the BBB info on Jack Turgeon and JD Upholstery. They get a rating of F. (Ratings are from A+ to F). BBB has had 16 recent complaints about this business. I never complained to BBB. So, one can just guess that the actual number of people who lost money is several time the 16 complaints.

He is very good at what making people believe him, as he been doing it for many years. His workers would call and say that the furniture is not ready as Jack is sick, Jack is in the hospital, Jack's wife has cancer, Jack had a heart Attach, Jack has high blod pressure, the sewing machine broke, the seamstress' machine broke, fabric has not been delivered. The only excuse they diodn't make was the dog ate Jack's home work.
