Terrible Service

I visited Il Uk Jo Korean/Japanese restaurant on Fraser and 152nd with a co-worker after a recommendation from the Internet. This was an absolutely terrible experience.

On our first visit, we were promptly seated and our menus were given. Our orders were taken and we waited for our food to arrive. We waited about 15 minutes after our orders were taken then we decided to leave. Not one single server mentioned to us how long it would take to complete our orders and they all failed to check up on us. They did not offer anything while we waited. During this time the restaurant was busy but they did seem to have enough servers. We promptly paid for our drinks and left, mentioning that we were greatly dissatisfied by their lack of proper service and poor training.

Unfortunately in this area there are not a lot of restaurants that are open late, so several days later we decided to give this restaurant another try. This time it was not that busy but the service was still lacking. The servers had a difficult time communicating with us and undertanding our orders and overall there was never a proper greeting, smile or sign of appreciation for the business that we brought to the restaurant.

The establishment itself is decent, although it could use a good cleaning as there was a large accumulation of dust around the air vents. The seating areas are tight even for single individuals and the washrooms needed servicing.

The menu is quite extensive and overall the selection is good. The food is not exemplary by any chance, but if you take the deluxe menu and arrive hungry then you will get your money's worth.

Overall the restaurant would not be so bad if it had far better management, better training for the staff and generally friendly servers. The interaction with the staff is about as impersonal as purchasing gum from a gumball machine.
