I got taken

I am writing this review in total disgust. The transmission in my van just expired for the third time this year. High tech were the rebuilders. The first failure occurred two years ago when the transmission cooler failed in my 2004 Chev van. The resulting leak failed the transmission. Hightech was recommended. $2,500 later I was back on the road. It failed 13 months later (this March). Turns out the clutches and bands did not fail, but the planetary gears (they did not replace them) were worn and fatigued. Sal at Hightech said, even though the warranty (one year) had expired, he would "help me out". He sure did. Another bill for $2,200 and I paid the towing fee. What am I going to do? I paid it. This time Sal assured me he replaced the "mechanical parts". Last month, on my way to the USA, the transmission failed. 10,000 kilometers of use and it blew up? Geeze, I got almost 130,000 kms out of the original transmission! I was stuck on the highway down near Buffalo. I called and spoke to Hussein. He advised I should arrange to have the van towed back and they would "take care of me". They sure did! Even though I was covered under their warranty, I had to pony up over $900 in towing fees, THEN they charged me $1,000 plus taxes for things like an internal transmission filter and a transmission cooler...well the filter is $60 retail and the cooler is less than $200!!! Of course, Hussein assured me that the parts he was using from a "low mileage" used transmission would be fine! HUH??? These guys are putting USED PARTS into my transmission? From OTHER BLOWN transmissions? The long story finishes here. I paid the bill and then stopped payment on the check. They will have to sue me to get paid, I thought! Then last night (not a thousand kms on the transmission) it failed again! This time it appears that the output shaft sheared the splines. No wonder...I saw their mechanic beating away at the shaft to remove it from the transmission housing just three weeks ago. So I have to get another rebuild done. What I had not originally seen on last month's invoice when I picked up the transmission is that they voided my warranty. After spending over $6,000 in their shop, they would not even honor their one-year warranty I paid for in March. They did not advise me of this when I picked up the van. I can assure you I will not be using Hightech. Their work is shoddy, their pricing is high, and they do not stand behind their customers. I could use other words, but I will stay polite.
