Hernando's Hideaway has been an institution for over 20 years; the first to introduce California-style mexican food in Toronto. Famous for the best Magaritas and nachos in town.
We hit this spot for a quick lunch and we're really surprised how amazing it was. Our server was very tentative, we received cold water, salsa, and chips right away. We ordered the starter platter and hot chilli and everything was very tasty and authentic. The Margaritas were great too and everything for about 50$.
Left after 20 minutes wait and waitress said oh your leaving, ok, so this must be normal for them. It wasn't even a busy night. The tap water and dirty menus weren't enough to stay. Terrible service. This is not a Mexican restaurant, it is tex-mex at best.
Pros:
-Clean restaurant.
-Nice layout and décor.
Cons:
-Food is not good, could do better myself with ingredients found at Wal-Mart.(enchilada sauce is really bad).
