We came across this museum by chance, looking for the fort. It is a period home with furniture of the time and tells a story of a wealthy man in the area and his enormous family. We were mainly directed here because of road signs advertising it to be the birthplace of hockey. Was nicely surprised to meet some very nice ladies who were a delight and gave us some very interesting information about this historical house. We stayed for about 45 minutes. Kids also enjoyed it. The hockey memorabilia on display was also very interesting.... more
Haliburton House is noted mostly for the history of its owner. While his original furniture is not available (with Judge Haliburton having sold it all before leaving for England), they have furnished the home with many pieces of the same period.
