All those old-fashioned English sweets you love but can never find in North America (such as horehound drops and lemon sherbets) are sold in this 20-year-old candy shop. They also sell English marmalade, lemon curd, jam, chutneys, tea and biscuits -- you get the picture. There's a smaller version, the British Candy Shoppe, 2 blocks away at 638 Yates St. (tel. 250/382-2634).
This is the only place to get blackcurrant anything in Victoria! My sister sent me on a mission to bring her back blackcurrant bon bons (not chocolate covered balls you think of you when you hear "bon bons," but chewy, gummy, Mentos-like candy). This is the place to get blackcurrant candy--hard candy in tins, licorice, or bon bons.

This is the ideal candy shop. Jars of candy everywhere and plenty of british snacks and treats to peruse. You pick out your candy by weight from the jars, otherwise there are plenty of chocolate bars, chips, and other "traditional" items to look through.
I've even ordered online I like this place so much!
This place has been here forever and I can't believe this was the my first trip inside. In search of Salt Water Taffy we were not disappointed.
