If it is all about the food, Dan Japanese is the best in the city and the best Japanese restaurant on the west coast. It is hard to fine true authentic Japanese chefs who do more than sushi, but this is it. More than sushi, they combine many different dishes that are well presented, and pure with taste and ingredients.... more
Born and raised Vancouverite here. I've tried every Japanese place in the city and this is its most well kept secret. Everything on the menu is outstanding, saké selection is outstanding. A very humble place. Definitely worth the trip if you're outside of Kits. You won't be disappointed. You must try each item on the menu, I mean it.
Made a reservation as it was Saturday evening. Turns out it wasn't needed because only 2 other people were there at 7:15. Initially seemed promising; good wine and sake list, interesting fresh sheet.
