This past fall we had a one week stay at "The Village" , at first we were incredibly pleased with what we thought was going to be a great get away. How terribly wrong we were. Being advertised as having a pool and being only September we were excited to enjoy the pool rights included with our stay. To start with the pool was never open and we had to get the owner (who never was anywhere to be found) to open it and once we infact did go for a dip, the water was absolutly disgusting and no wheres near being a 'Heated' pool as advertised.
The laundry facilities were filthy, floors covered in lint and the dryers barely heated up.
The Grocery 'Organic' grocery store reminded me more of a kw-ik-ee mart, I did not know slush puppies and processed cheese nachos were organic or healty? The majority of the produce was disgustingly putrid, and the service was less than marginal in both the grocery and resteraunt, highly unwelcoming staff and the small welcome you recived was anything but sincere.
The food was basically standard, nothing special but would have been far more enjoyable if the waitress was infact waitressing and not reading the newspaper.
Lastly this brings me to the rooms, our cost for 2 queen beds was 69.00, fairly reasonable, if the rooms, beds or linens for that matter had ever been updated since their construction in the 1980's. As well when I turned the AC on, also dated to the building, my wife and I found the air to seem thin in the room and felt a rasp in our throats.
One positive note from our stay was meeting a incredibly kind little lady aged probally 85 years, she was a resident at the Village, which affter meeting her I realised lived there as they are also calling it a Seniors home somehow. The poor miss has to live her years out in a hotel room, listening to travelers footsteps up and down the staris beside her room. Living in a a hotel dubbed as a one room seniors home untill the next un suspecting helpless senior moves in. Now its a 2 room seniors home with travelers disturbing their sleep and transients haunting their thoughts. I wish I won the lottery so I could set her up where she should be. Not lonely in a hotel room, should bes urrounded by like minded senior companions.
I would like to state what I like best but that is about all there was to enjoy, meeting a sweet old lady. I also got a chcukle out of the young girl (had to be under 12) who checked us in, even though she chearged my credit card twice.
It was okay we were a little rushed did not have a lot of time ! We had a lot of driving to do
Had a good stay while I was there. The hotel is older and in need of some upgrading. As the area is a seasonal one I can understand the challenges in keeping it up to date.
This was a okay place to stay. Not somewhere I would go again. It wasn't somewhere I would book if I knew what it was. Not on the lake, beds were very uncomfortable and very outdated. Only one window you could open and it was in the bathroom with no screen.
