great for family

a ski hill that's great for family and for learning, COP has always provided a good environment for beginners. the prices are good and you can get a season's pass, and the lifts aren't slow like they used to be 10 years ago. worth going back if you haven't been lately.

The lasting memento of Calgary's role as host of the 1988 Winter Olympics stands in Olympic Park, which was the site for ski jumping, luge, and bobsledding during the Games. The Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum features the world's largest collection of Olympic artifacts, including the torch used to bring the flame from Greece; costumes and equipment used by the athletes; superb photographs; and... more

2. Depending on where you sit, you'll get different amounts of whiplash. I was placed in the back because I was tallest.....and got the most whiplash. My poor neck!

3. It's worth doing... more

I was at the COP for the FIBT International Bobsleigh & Skeleton competition Dec 15-20 this year.

First of all the good thing about this event and venue: once you are there you have the chance to get very close to the track. Be prepared to get in contact with the athletes, trainers, photographs and have a real hands-on experience of these sports.

Sadly there were some huge disappointments as... more

Canada Olympic Park was the venue for the 1998 Winter Olympics and offers a variety of adventure sports facilities. These facilities are used both by high-performance winter athletes and by ordinary, adventurous, Calgarians. The bobsled track immortalized by four crazed Jamaican sledders continues to be used for World Cup events. The downhill ski slope is a popular entry-level spot for skiers,... more

These facilities are used both by high-performance winter athletes and by ordinary, adventurous, Calgarians. The bobsled track immortalized by four crazed Jamaican sledders continues to be used for World Cup events. The downhill ski slope is a popular entry-level spot for skiers, while the half-pipe area crawls with local snowboarders. The park also gets steady summer use by cross-country and... more
