Kept pretty clean, dim sum is the best you'll get in chinatown. Would go here for lunch, then walk over to kensington market or Queen street to walk off the calories.
Bright Pearl is a famous dim sum restaurant in the heart of Toronto's Chinatown. Located on the second floor of a big yellow building at the corner of St. Andrew and Spadina, Bright Pearl is best on weekends when the massive dining room is packed with festive dim sum goers.
They're closed right now for renovation :(Great place to stop and eat after a day at Kensington Market. It's best to come here in a group of four people or more... I've been to this place 4 times: twice with family, once on a date, and once with a friend (side note, that friend was Chinese, and neither I nor any of the other people I went with are). I remember this place when the entire building was a dim sum restaurant. Bright Pearl is by far 1 of the best places for dim sum even if your not Chinese as most of the waiters and servers there are bilingual. My only comlplaint is the price, though some of the best food, you pay premium.
