Not a big sushi fan so I was a bit skeptical to go to dinner here. But they had a huge variety of rolls that I actually very much enjoyed! Great food. The restaurant itself had a great atmosphere- very relaxing, very posh
"See and be seen" at this "trendy" King Wester and its "attractive" Financial District sibling where "friendly", "well-informed" servers deliver "imaginative sushi" and other "creative" Japanese fare featuring "fantastic" "flavours and combinations"; the Bay Street locale reels in business crowds, while weekend DJs at the "New York–chic" original keep a "pre-club" crowd happy; though pricey,... more
Taking its name from a high-risk Japanese delicacy, the blowfish (which is not on the menu here), this restaurant is a rare pleasure. Tucked inside a former bank building, the soaring ceilings lend the room true grandeur. Eateries in trendy areas come and go, but Blowfish's impressive attention to detail makes me hope that this one will be around for a while. The menu features the expected... more
Crisp white walls, a florescent backdrop, and mellow house tunes set the ambience in this seductive sushi bar. Snack on unique sushi creations with trendsetting friends and King West entrepreneurs in the main dining area. Sip on a saketini behind the metal mesh screen at the long marble bar with your date. Pre-drink or eat on the bamboo inspired patio before heading over to Century Room or... more
Miso Cod at Blowfish is something I need periodically, the last two sakes on the menu are my favourite. Next time I will reorder the black sesame ice-cream, the presentation is so stunning, wish I could share the shots here.
It was a little over-priced for what you get. The fish was fresh, but not outstanding and at $10 for maguro it should be. The miso cod is a staple on every Japanese menu and this was one of the blandest. The fish was good, but the preparation was pedestrian. It's fine if you need some sushi and are in the area. The atmosphere and decor is good. But it is not a destination restaurant.

Don your most stylish apparel while heading to Blowfish because the moment you enter its premises, you know you are in a deluxe fine dining establishment. An ornate crystal chandelier, holding candles, sparkles with a silver glow, while the dining room is bathed in a soft royal purple light. Long wooden tables and white string curtains create chic interiors. Savor Sashimi in varieties like... more
The King West strip needs another trendy resto-lounge like a fish needs a typewriter. Then again, there’s always room for more “Are-You-Hot?” buff boys and bottle-blondes. But if you think Blowfish is just another hotspot for Toronto’s beautiful people, you’re wrong. For starters, the menu effortlessly fuses traditional Japanese ingredients with classical French and pan-Asian influences. For... more
