Serious about food, Serious about fun, Empathizes on Yumm!
Vancouver's "original" Eclectic tapas bar – chef-owner Gord Martin's Downtown "masterpiece" – draws a "hip" following for its "tasty", "playful" small plates (note: they can add up); the "funky" space is "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" "tiny", and there are no reservations so it gets "crowded", but "the buzz, the booze and the music" along with the "friendly" servers and the "show" from the... more
This raucous Davie Street tapas-only institution continues to pack them in every night, and for good reason. Gord Martin’s food benchmarks the city’s. Sample the East West crab cakes with burnt orange and chipotle syrup ($16), and the asparagus and chanterelle mushroom risotto ($16). The wine list is small, but it’s expertly chosen and knowledgeably served. Bin is, famously, a tight, chaotic... more
Still booming a decade after it opened its door, Bin 941 remains the place for trendy tapas dining. True, the music's too loud and the room's too small with carnival-esque mirrors, but the food that alights on the bar and eight tiny tables is delicious and fun, and the wine list is great. Look especially for local seafood such as scallops and tiger prawns. In this sliver of a bistro, sharing is... more
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing an experience my husband and I had at this very tiny (seats 32 people I think) restaurant. We nearly missed finding it, as it was later in the evening, dark, and the door was red and we could not find it easily. Once we did, the only seats that were available were the ones sitting directly at the bar looking into the tiny kitchen where all the magic... more
This place is way overrated. We went for dinner on a Saturday. We were excited about the menu and the ingredients. When we initially ordered the 3 tapas we wanted, we were told that we couldn't have it in the order we wanted (we were hoping for a cauliflower dish before the beef wellington). So we ordered only 1 dish at a time and the wait staff rolled her eyes and wouldn't speak to us again.... more
Eclectic place that serves some good food and interesting cocktails. Don't let the local characters or 'street appeal' turn you away. The innovative cocktail and food menu will be your reward.
Whenever I get a chance to go to Vancouver, I make it a point to be waiting at the door by 5:00 PM and ensure that anyone that I know that is going to Vancouver must also experience the wonderful flavors and experience no one should ever forget.
very very surprising i loved the food imaginative creative inexpensive music was mellow and the waitresses were on the ball. loved it
Inspired by New York City's wine and tapas bars, chef and owner, Gord Martin, created Bin 941 for Vancouver. It is one of the city's first restaurants to feature small plates and tapas as a form of dining and has been around for over ten years. The menu uses sustainable, local and seasonal ingredients - freshness is guaranteed! Bin 941's menu has a handful of mainstay dishes, such as the flank... more
