Avoid Autopark Cars

Well, I went to autopark to see what they had in their inventory. It was very nice and clean and they had a large selection of vechicals to chose from. The prices were generally about market price. Keep in mind the prices are the prices, no negotiation.
I needed a new car after my 98 was written off. I have never had a car newer than 6 years old and thought a newer one would be nice to have for my daily commute and more realiable.
The salesman and staff were very friendly and seemed very professional. But of course you could tell they were used car salesmen, only interested in getting the sell. I proceeded carefully and with great scrutiny in test driving a 2010 Nissan Sentra. I noticed right away the alignment was off a bit, I mentioned it and they said it would be taken care of before pick up. I like the car a lot and decided to buy. I was told the car was a previous rental from quebec, shown a car facts report (no incidents), and given the option to buy extra warranty. (i did, cause im paranoid about new car cost repairs). I sign the papers get the financing approved etc etc.
Flash foward 3 days: I pick up the car sign papers and take the car home. I still notice the alignment is off. Im a little annoyed and then take a look at the certification. It was done in Brampton sometime in the 3 days when I puchased and picked up.. no major increase to the Kms. Perhaps they had it towed there, I thought.
Flash forward 4 weeks: So now with an alignment on my mind I notice a grinding sound coming from the front right. I go to my mechanic to have checked out, Its a upper stut mount bearing going. (badly). I call Autopark and they say they cant do anything but if I called the shop they use and mention that Autopark told me to call they will give me the "Auto Park discount", which I think is code for bend this guy over.
The Garage quotes me $630 taxes inc. Better than my mechanic by about $50. So I take it in. I go to pick up the car after the repairs are done. The girl at the desk tells me they lost the Original quote and it will now be $680... hmm.. convieniant.
Back to Autopark cars. With some research I find out that many used dealers buy cars from auctions, not a big deal but when a car comes from quebec the laws are different, the car can be written off and then rebuilt and reregistered, no car fax incidents.
The other problem is they dont really know what they are buying from the auction. My car for instance showed no tracable maintenance from a dealership while being used as a rental under warranty. (of couse I find out after I bought the car).
Now the kicker, I was told their (autopark) cars a good and will last a long. I am now looking at thousands of dollars in repairs due to major electrical problems 9 months later. I was told the warranty I bought covers wiring, but looking closely the warranty is set up that if the wiring fails (or any part), due to a non covered part, then its not covered.. Very sneaky. I also started looking up the warranty company and they are not the most reputable. Lots of complaints about not covering things or only using the cheapest parts (sometimes from scrapyards), to fix the vehical or they wont cover it. Basically making you jump through hoops just to hopefully get covered. My mechanic says they wont even go through the process of my warranty because they get nothing but hassles from 3rd party warranties. I gotta do all the legwork myself.
While I do not hold the staff at autopark responsible for selling me a lemon,(they are just doing thier jobs and probally just dont know what they are selling). I feel I must warn anyone interested in buying a car from them, that you would have about the same luck in what your getting by going to the auto auctions yourself but you would save a lot of money.

If you are determined to buy a car from them, Take your time, and do a lot of research on the car itself and any services you are offered. Do not be rushed into buying anything from them. Especially if the car is from Quebec.

Not a good car buying experience

After my dad was in a car accident he was in need of a new car. After doing some research it was on my recommendation that he went to Autopark Superstore in Innisfil, Ontario. Although the transaction went very smoothly and the salesman was excellent in his level of care, it was after the sale that their service does not come close to par. After a few days of having the car, a 2006 Impala, with only 48,000 km on it the exhaust got rather loud rumble to it. Of course this wasn't how it was purchased and definitely not how it sounded during the test drive. Now, Autopark claims to stand behind their stuff, so here comes the good part. I brought the car back down to have it fixed. I was given a loaner car, a 2003 Sunfire with near 200k on it and questioning whether or not I had enough gas in the tank to even make it to a gas station, good business practice huh? Anyway, so they decide that they are going to replace the muffler and farmed the work out to a still unnamed muffler shop in Barrie. After getting the car back and driving back to Penetanguishene the exhaust was still not sounding at all like it should. Please note that the smashed car was also an Impala so we should have a good idea. So after some more screwing around the car gets taken to our regular mechanic for an opinion. While in his shop there are no exhaust leaks and it is a new muffler. However on their website they claim to provide OEM parts with 1 yr warranty, this muffler is the cheapest that they could get away with putting on the car. On top of this the mechanic had the car on the hoist and thought the tail pipe was rather short and would have been considered "illegal" in a safety certification situation. He called the other mechanic over just to ask what he thought of this muffler and tail pipe, his words were "illegal, too short." Now when Autopark was presented with this they said OK, bring the car back. SO a 2nd time I bring it back and get the 200k loaner Sunfire with again NO GAS in it. Later that day when the car was picked up we were essentially told there is nothing wrong with the exhaust and your mechanic doesn't know what he is talking about. With that said there were phone calls by us made to independant muffler shops to inquire about tail pipe length. All shops asked confirmed that the tail pipe should be past the rear bumper to allow exhaust gasses to escape properly, not being trapped under the car with the potential for dangerous exhaust fumes to enter the car. And at a minimum to prevent the hot exhaust gasses from melting the rear bumper.

The car was bought on January 17, 2008. After all of this, Autopark has STILL not taken the onus and performed due dilligence on their part.

As my wife and I are also needing to buy a second car we were considering a couple of the vehicles on the lot at Autopark and the salesman was aware of this fact while my dad made his purchase. However after seeing the poor level of service after the sale we will not be buying our car from Autopark. In fact, I'll make sure anyone I know who is looking for a car avoids this place.

Besides all of the above, Alex the man in charge of service is not the most friendly or dilligent of service folk at a dealership. And upon delivering the car at 7:30am, the dealership not opening til 8am, but employee's obviously present on site I had the pleasure of being chirped off by one of their detail monkey's saying "What are you doing here? Alex isn't here, there isn't a dealership in the world that opens before 8am." All this after it was confirmed with Alex the previous day that he would be there and the car would be getting dropped off at 7:30am and the loaner would be needed.

My recommendation is to STAY AWAY from AUTOPARK SUPERSTORE, Innisfil.
