Allen's stands as owner John Maxwell's loving tribute to the Irish-American saloons of his native New York. Extensive use of wood, a tin ceiling, oak-plank floor, and warm dark colours give Allen's, the glow of comfortable tradition.
I was quite impressed by the vaste selection of premium and imported beers that Allen's had on tap as well as in bottles. Great for trying something new and different. They also make a pretty damm good ceasar...with just the right amount of spicy vodka goodness! I had the pork loin chops and it was decent, but not exceptional. My friends had the burgers, which are quite pricey too, but looked, smelt and apparently tasted amazing. Next time I would try one of these instead of the other overpriced dinner options.
"Classic pub fare" ("it's all about the burgers") and other Eclectic grub backed by whiskies and a "mega beer list" draw locals to this "warm", "laid-back" Danforther with a "lovely backyard patio"; if a few sniff "it's a bit pricey for what's on offer", others point to the "friendly, competent" staff, and swear "you'll never have a bad night."
Allen's sports a great bar that offers more than 150 beer selections and 278 single malts. Guinness is the drink of choice on Tuesday and Saturday nights, when folks reel and jig to the Celtic entertainment.

Extensive list runs to VQA tested wines (apparently, that means the wine is good) and a rare selection of whiskey. Upscale pub menu is a force to be reckoned with. Prides itself on being an... more
Once one of the few places in town serving craft beer and interesting imports. Bistro style place - the food is still good but time has rather overtaken it.
Allen's is a lovely place on the Danforth that's just affordable enough to frequent somewhat regularly while still being a treat. Easily one of the nicest places along this strip of the Danforth. The food is excellent and the owner is one of the nicest and most interesting restauranteurs I've had the pleasure of meeting. Highly recommend.
Allen's has really good food, a great bar selection - including amazing Ontario wines - and an awesome patio for summer. Go.
Large selection of beer ..but what does it matter, you cant get any service.
In its backyard, under the leaves of three century-old willows, Allen’s offers a daily barbeque menu cooked over Canadian hardwood charcoal. This Irish saloon on the Danforth cooks up some of Toronto’s best patio grub for the masses that frequent Allen’s. Upscale favourites like steak or lobster hit the grill Tuesdays through Saturdays. Hoist a lager while you feast on the barbequed treats.
