SCAM - Charged me for gas when I filled the tank!!!

I rented a truck from Discount in Newmarket back in May. First of all, when i booked my reservation, I asked the representative about insurance. He said if my policy covers the vehicle i just had to bring in the policy number. When i went to pickup the truck the employee said insurance was mandatory and that unless i had my insurance policy with me I would have to pay their ridiculous insurance rate - i was stuck, so i reluctantly paid.

When i returned the vehicle i filled up the tank, making sure it was in fact full as i didn't want to be charged $2.50 per liter for their refueling fee. I drove the cargo van 100 kms and put $20 in fuel in the vehicle. The on-board computer confirmed this was how much fuel had been burned since i picked up the vehicle. I dropped the van off at night and left the keys in the drop box. When i received my visa statement a few weeks later i noticed i was overcharged by $40. I contacted them and they said it was because i didn't put enough gas in the van. I informed customer service that i had filled the van and she basically said i was lying - even though they had the receipt. She said that i burned 50 liters of gas in 100kms (and this is highway!!!). I informed the rep that tractor trailers don't burn this much fuel, but got nowhere. I made many calls to discount with zero help. I have a feeling the employees there are filling their own vehicles and using that receipt as "proof" they put fuel in the trucks.

Needless to say I will never rent from Discount truck rental in Newmarket ever again!
