Wild Rice is a socially conscious restaurant serving modern Chinese cuisine in Vancouver's historic Chinatown.

Opened in 2001 (Year of the Snake), Wild Rice offers a dining experience that is unique in Canada and perhaps, the world. Situated literally on the east meets west cross roads on the edge of Vancouver’s Old Chinatown, Wild Rice is also a place where the FAR EAST MEETS THE YOUNGEST... more

A second location has opened in New West, but the original stylish Chinese gem, at the gates of Chinatown with a never-been-so-tight kitchen crew, still churns out signature kung po chicken over rice with twice-cooked peanuts and a new range of dim sum. Owner Andrew Wong, who ably pairs local wines with executive chef Todd Bright's always inventive share plates, remains a quiet, sincere... more

"Vegans and omnivores" alike enjoy "something different" in the form of "beautifully presented" "modern" Chinese plates at this midpriced Downtowner with a "funky" feel; a few critics complain that dishes can be "hit-or-miss", but most agree the "pleasant" atmosphere and "friendly" servers can make it feel like a "great private party"; P.S. a New Westminster sib opened post-Survey.

The crunch of the fresh beans, the rich flavour of the sauce all enjoyed one bean at a time. Sexy.

We had been recommended this restaurant and viewing the menu online was intriguing.None of the usual-to a Brit- dishes with additional rice or noodles.
Here one buys small or large plates to share and thankfully we took the advice of the waitress and did not over order. The small plates are tasty and different and the large plates are more... more

I made a special trip to this place because it was voted as one of the top Chinese restaurants and I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre and the portion is ridiculously small. I don't mind paying the money but at least get me a decent size so that I can taste the food. I have renamed this place "Wild Price".

This is not your mother's chinese restaurant! The food is wonderful. A nice balance between modern style and traditional flavours. Love the look and the feel. Music is a bit loud at times but heck, a good chinese restaurant is a noisy chinese restaurant. I've been waiting forever for a Chinese restaurant with a decent wine list. My prayers have been answered! My only complaint is the... more
