The Westmount Examiner, Making all of Westmount your home

Westmount is served by several weeklies, but The Westmount Examiner is the only one that is entirely devoted to the community, excluding, as a matter of policy, news occurring outside Westmount's borders in favour of local news, the kind that you won't find anywhere else - either in daily newspapers or on radio and television.

Foundation:
The Examiner was founded in 1935 to provide neighbourhood news to Westmount residents, one of Canada's wealthiest communities.
.
Initially, the paper consisted of a few pages of local news and advertising and was produced at the last minute in a modest office in Cote St. Luc, after its sister papers, The Monitor and The Verdun Guardian had gone to press. All this changed in 1952 when its new owner, John Sancton, moved the paper to his own quarters in Westmount.

The paper continued thriving, and in the late 1980s, was sold by the Sancton family to Publications Dumont. Today, it is part of the Transcontinental group.

Coverage: Westmount

Run: 11,000 copies weekly

Prominent Facts:
- A market of more than 18,593 people
- $396,501,498 Cdn in consumer spending
- 48.3% are homeowners
