FOOD: Excellent simple Japanese food. Cheap too. Cooked in the Japanese style you would find in a street level cheap Japanese establshment. Good prices
ATMOSPHERE: Good hole in the wall Japanese restaurant, basic atmosphere.

We ordered sanma teishoku, tonkatsu and pudding. It was fresh, home-made, delicious and authentic. It really made me happy after eating their food!!
Portion can be small considering the vancouver standard (though i like that) but the price is very reasonable! I would visit here regularly :)
I've been Van Ya for dinner twice and have been pleasantly surprised both times.
Their decor isn't anything spectacular, but once you look past that, this is a hidden gem that offers authentic Japanese cuisine in an area that appears to favour quantity over quality.
