“really small!”

Kensington Pub
this is a really small pub, and it's too small because it's hard to get in on the weekends. i see that it's supposed to be like a real London pub, but I've never been to London so I can't appreciate that, I just want a place I can get in!

“stuffy club but a fun time”

Vinyl Retro Lounge
this is where I was last night, even on a sunday the place is happening! i say it's stuffy because it has a pretty low ceiling and it can get hot in here, but i think a lot of people like that because it keeps the ladies dressing in less clothes! ;) good music, i don't know why they call it retro because it's current stuff.

“downtown irish pub”

Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub
there aren't a lot of irish pubs downtown they seem to all be in suburban neighbourhoods. this is the exception and it's in eau claire so it's a pretty cool place. i would have expected it to be overpriced, but it's not, it's reasonable.

“cool lounge”

KEG STEAKHOUSE & BAR
this downtown Keg location is good like the rest as far as steaks go. For the lounge part, which is my favourite, it's nicer and not as dark as the other Keg lounges. Has a welcoming feeling and it's usually packed with party people after work.

“awesome in summer!”

Broken City Social Club
this place has a roof top patio that's just wicked in the summer time. the music is different than a lot of bars, not just the popular radio stuff but also indie bands and different genres.

“not a popular release theatre”

Globe Cinema
this theatre doesn't typically play the popular releases, it plays the 2nd rate movies that are still really good. the seating is not very comfortable, and movies are a bit cheaper than the big theatres, but the titles are what you should come for. keep an eye on their website or FFWD magazine for showtimes.

“dated theatre, but a good experience”

Plaza Theatre
i have to dock stars for the theatre, it's not very modern and the seats aren't very comfortable. but that's perhaps expected, it's not a new movie theatre chain. they play classics here, old movies, documentaries, film festival movies, etc. keep an eye on their website or FFWD magazine for showtimes.

“the new movie theatre”

Empire Theatres Studio 10
this movie theatre used to be a cineplex, but now it's empire and i like the new one. The popcorn flavour has changed though, which some people may find important (me). The movies are still shown on huge screens and the sound is good. Chairs are comfortable, but aren't like the latest & greatest from Cineplex up in Cross Iron Mills!!

“slow concession staff”

Empire Theatres Studio 16
the theatre at this location is great, and the screens are really big (most of them) but the staff at concession are kind of slow. they have about 20 tills but no more than 3 are ever open at a time due to demand or staffing.

“my home theatre”

Empire Theatres Studio
this theatre is magnificent. The screens are big and the sound is great, they have a few different sized theatres so if you see something on opening night or soon after, you'll get the biggest theatre. the only thing is that the staff are a bit slow at concession.

“comfortable, but small”

Cineplex Odeon Cinemas
it's amazing how theatres can become obsolete. this used to be the best one around, but now it's quite small compared to the newer ones. they have really comfortable seating though, and have Stars and Strollers where you can bring your baby to the movies without worrying about it crying and disrupting everyone else. It's all Moms in the crowd on those days!

“IMAX is here!”

Cineplex Entertainment
this theatre has the IMAX theatre in it, for the biggest movie experience you've ever seen. you can't get 3D movies here, but you can get the big IMAX ones for just a couple bucks more.

Cineplex Chinook Cinemas

“closed now”

Cineplex Odeon Cinemas
this theatre has closed now, ever since spring 2009 I think. no more imax, no more movie theatre.

“smaller, unnecessary location”

M&M Meat Shops
this location isn't very big, and there's a much better one just north in Crowfoot. I would recommend going there instead.

“a great location of M&Ms”

M&M Meat Shops
This location is particularly good, the people that work here are really fast to serve you and they have a wide variety of frozen meats. Check them out for their Stampede BBQ and you'll get to taste some burgers for free, so you'll know why they're so good.

“i'm hooked”

M&M Meat Shops
I AM hooked on M & M Meat Shops, they have some really good frozen meats here and you just take them home and microwave them or put them in the oven and you're done. Easy dinners and delicious.

“love the wings!”

M&M Meat Shops
you can get frozen chicken wings here for so cheap, and they come pre-flavoured so you just stick them in the oven and you are done. that's reason enough to shop here.

“business clothes too”

Mark's Work Wearhouse
most people think mark's has only worker man clothing, but they also have a lot of khaki pants and dress shirts, the types of things you can wear to an office job. they have spill proof clothing and other neat features too, check it out.

“hospital scrubs here”

Mark's Work Wearhouse
this location is close to the hospital and has the best selection of scrubs around. all MWW locations have scrubs, but this is the best place. they also have work boots for the men, and socks and winter underwear and things like that.

“best scrubs!”

Mark's Work Wearhouse
i used to work at the hospital part time, doing clerk work. you have to wear scrubs and this is the best place in the CITY to get 'em.
