I have a conch piercing that must occasional be removed. However, since moving from Toronto to Ottawa I've been obliged to find a new piercing studio. After conducting some quick research I swung by Universal Tattoo to purchase a new retainer and have my ring removed.
Within the first five minutes I was quoted two different prices to have my earring remove. The piercer and gentleman behind the counter finally settled upon a cost of $15 cash to have my earring removed and subsequently put back later. I am familiar with a charge of approximately $5-$6 to have my earring remove and thus didn't shrug the $15 to cover the cost of the two visits.
When I returned to Universal Tattoo I was told that I had to pay an additional $5 to have my earring put back in. I explained to both the gentleman behind the counter and the piercer that I was charged $15 for the return visit. In response I was told, "I was overcharged the first time but it would be an additional $5 to get the job completed". I chose not waste my time and argue the topic. Instead, I simply left.
I have no idea how business is conducted at Universal Tattoo...the price seems to fluctuate by the day, but I vow never to return or forward any recommendations to friends.
The ladies who pierce at Universal are extremely professional and skilled. Both have many years experience and have been able to help me find jewelry, discuss piercings and body mod's and have done an excellent job on each piece they have done on me!
